But this is affecting everything. I literally had to take a couple seconds to remember that it's "affecting" not "effecting" in that previous sentence. My mind isn't just shifting focus, it's losing focus on everything. And I don't have any passion and effort to give. Even my dreams for the future leave me unmotivated. Things I enjoy doing I end up getting bored with immediately. And I'm not talking about things I could do years ago. 6 months ago I could learn a new incredibly complex concept easily, and now I can't understand things half as complex. Even my personal imaginations have lost their appeal and creativity. There's just nothing left from me.
That's a different scenario altogether. Losing a purpose in life causes your emotional and perceived mental state to deteriorate immensely. In that circumstance, you have to provide a motivation based on your will. Even if you don't like it, force yourself to do it and get better at it, and everything else will adjust accordingly. Let your willpower be your drive, and even if that isn't it, allow the state of nothingness to push you away instead of pull you in. Virtually everyone feels worthless at some point or another, but it's a matter of pulling yourself out of the rut instead of sitting there to simmer.
