His understanding of biology as i envisioned it is explicitly [b]supernatural[/b] - beyond what even the best minds of modern science know at the moment. For example, you know how the middle-schoolers are taught about the recessive and dominant genes, alleles, mutant carriers and genetic "wild cards" because this is literally the only good and understandable GUESS that we have on how genetics work? Gutmadder knows how genes work EXACTLY, even though he probably can't explain it to others due to the natural limitations of human understanding and language. Sufficiently advanced science is indistinguishable from magic yadda-yadda.
