Minako had tried, she really had. She had tried not to make eye contact with the girl, but as she had come up from her bow the other girl’s eyes had sought out hers. It happened before she could stop it or warn her. Or perhaps, that was what she convinced herself of after the fact. 



Whatever the case, a very strange thing happened when Minako’s eyes met the other girl’s. At first, there was the familiar rush of warmth that began flooding through her, but then, it simply… vanished. As though it had never come in the first place. The suddenness of it left Minako stunned, openly staring at the girl in front of her. On the one hand, she was relieved to have avoided another incident like the previous day. On other though, it left her feeling… strangely empty. She was at a loss to explain it, but somehow, Minako felt cheated. 



That, however, wasn’t the more pressing issue. What was was the fact that she was looking this girl directly in her grey eyes, and nothing was happening. Somehow, she had prevented Minako’s power from activating. That issue could be simplified down to a single word.
