I think the issue is the origin of the name "Hulkling". While you are correct that he is not literally related to the Hulk, according to Marvel Wikia, Hulkling picked that name because he had a slight resemblance to the Hulk. Nevertheless, I am not expert on Hulkling.
I mean, what's in a name? Black Tarantula and Devil Spider are separate characters like Hulkling, things shouldn't have to be kosher with the guy playing Spiderman [I know that's you but you get what I'm saying]. And the way Marvel plays the 'assume a new alias' game with it's characters, some people seem to have as many multiple personalities as Hank Pym [just look at Monica Rambeau: Capt. Marvel, Photon, Pulsar, Spectrum, now post Civil War II she may be the new War Machine...]. Different powers, different origin, different affiliations, etc. It's like comparing Marvel Girl [Jean Grey] to the New Warriors' Marvel Boy [Justice/Vance Astrovik]. They even have telekinesis in common, but other than having a similar codename they're COMPLETELY unrelated. And nobody would bat an eyelash if either one of them claimed "I picked the name cause I'm a fan of Ms. Marvel..." ~KL~
