Ok so added a few bits of food and water to his supplies. Greg isn't going to have any sort of scavenging or Water purification skills to speak of. Living in Robins with loads of other people has given him quite the sheltered existence. All he had to do is focus on his job. That doesn't mean he doesn't know how to filter water, His intelligence would grant him that. It's just that would have been in lab conditions with perfect equipment. Greg hasn't adapted to the whole outside the Robins wall thing. He has only really been moving for about a month or so.

In terms of a first post. I used my Graphics tablet to draw a map of what i thought is going on. Where Jacob and where he is going. His goal isn't Newnan. He doesn't even know of the settlements existence. He is concerned with the Jackson-Pless Armory. He is fairly sure that is where he can find some useful stuff
