My image for this RP sets the Kaiju as Pacific Rim like more than Evangelion. Also, here is some things that I've decided.

Humanity fought hard. In the first days, corporations seeking to make a profit off defense contracts did their best to create a solution to the Kaiju threat. The military approach was by far the most appealing, create a bigger gun. Shoreline defenses and ships were outfitted with massive cannons and various types of missiles. After a short time though, they just couldn't cut it anymore. (For lack of a better term..) The category 2 Kaiju began coming, being both stronger and faster than before, the primarily stationary guns became inefficient. Trying to mount a 300mm cannon onto a tank didn't go very well and it was decided that a type of highly mobile gun platform was needed. Two programs received funding, the (Damnit there isn't a better term) Jaeger program and the Fortress Initiative. The Jaegers were massive combat suits controlled by a (originality!) human pilot with a shielded AI in tangent. After a short time, neural link technology won the day and it became necessary for pilots to receive implants in order to control the Jaegers. The Fortress Initiative took a different approach to the mobility problem. Instead of terrestrial gun platforms, the FI built flying and floating fortresses. Both programs used guns recycled from shore defenses and the ships that could barely handle the recoil force. Both of these programs were funded all the way up until the end. Among the other programs that were funded was the Kinetic Impact Drivers and the Home Among The Stars program.
