So one of his first little priorities is to find some electronics and build some more, as well as try to find people to survive with that won't kill him. Impromptu electronics is yeah, jury rigging. Without half his tools or services, he has had to learn while in the camp how to get the same results using a more 'brute force' method. crude mechanics is a similar thing, just applied to mechanical objects.
