Courtney is your average teen. She's five foot seven. She's skinny and completely flat (front and back), but not anorexic skinny. She has long blond hair which tends to curl, much to her dismay, so she straightens it every morning. She has a fair complexion and blue eyes. She has some muscles but not much at this point. What she has has been developed over the year she has been solo superheroing. [/indent]

[indent]Courtney has no superpowers. However the [b]Cosmic Staff[/b] grants Courtney powers:

[b][u][color=00aeef]Backstory:[/color][/u][/b]
[indent]Courtney was very much your average teenage girl in Los Angeles. So average that her family didn't get along. Watching your parents fight was never something she wanted. Nor did she like the divorce. It had been painfully obvious that it was going to happen but the young girl had held out impossible hope against all odds. Hope had nothing against her father, [color=00aeef][b]Sam[/b][/color], walking out on them. The months after that were hard on both Courtney and her mother, [color=00aeef][b]Barbara[/b][/color]. Mainly on her mother who had to struggle to get Courtney's deadbeat father to sign the divorce. 

The whole of Courtney's young teen years were the worst. Her grades slipped and quite frankly she was nearly flunking out of high school. It was miserable. Without her best friends she never would have made it. Her friends were highly supportive and kept her afloat more times than Courtney could count. Her safety net. Then after the whole divorce thing was over things were looking up. Courtney and her mother were spending time together again. Time that wasn't marred by the absence of her father. Courtney was even beginning to do better in school. 

Then [color=00aeef][b]Pat Dugan[/b][/color] walked into Courtney's life. At first he was just another guy that her mother was psudo-dating. Courtney figured he'd go away like the rest of the losers. After all the two of them were doing just fine. But Pat continued to bulldoze his way into their lives. He pushed through barely rebuilt walls and his mother was okay with it. Courtney was annoyed by the interloper and her grades began to slip again. This time her friends weren't as supportive of her anger issues or her complaining. She ended up falling into a bad crowd and things continued to fall downhill. 

The bottom of said hill soon arrived when her mother and Pat announced that they were getting married. And the joys didn't end there. Not only was she going to get a step-father they were moving to Nebraska! It was just completely unfair. Where the hell was Nebraska anyways? It didn't even sound like somewhere she wanted to live.

Courtney's resentment of Pat continued to grow in [color=00aeef][b]Blue Valley, Nebraska[/b][/color]. She had a hard time making friends and was generally aloof in school. Though she did befriend [color=00aeef][b]Mary[/b][/color] and [color=00aeef][b]Josh[/b][/color] nearly immediately despite her best efforts to the contrary. Things continued in this vein for a while until one day when she was staying home sick from school. Pat and her mother were off working and she had free run of the house (Pat's house). Curiosity got the better of the teen and she ended up in the attic pawing through Pat's old stuff.

In one trunk she found a really strange belt and a few other items. It was only after a bit of quick research she discovered Pat used to be [color=00aeef][b]Stripesy[/b][/color], a adult sidekick to a teen hero. The only one in history! Quickly Courtney realized with this stuff she could get back at Pat and mock him! Over the next week she cobbled together a make-shift costume, sparing no (hilarious) expense. When it was finished Courtney showed off the costume at the local Independence Day event. 

And once again Courtney's streak for bad things struck again. It was only after Pat turned red in the face at her mockery and he began to chastise her that the screaming began. Blue Valley might not have been hopping in the way LA was but apparently not even Nebraska was exempt from random (or not so random) super-villain attacks. It was the nefarious [color=00aeef][b]Dragon King[/b][/color]. (Side note: Apparently a Japanese war criminal hiding out in Nebraska. Fun Facts!)

Pat quickly, much to Courtney's surprise, got most of the townsfolk, including her mother, to safety. However Courtney's day was still to get worse. [color=00aeef][b]Shiv[/b][/color], the Dragon King's daughter, apparently took affront to her costume and attacked the young girl. It was only Pat's intervention that saved her life. Pat had built himself a mechanical fighting suit of armor (that he named [color=00aeef][b]S.T.R.I.P.E.[/b][/color]). Together the two were able to fight off both the Dragon King and his daughter. 

After a long [i]discussion[/i] with Pat and her mother it was agreed that Courtney could continue her "teen crime fighting" as long as Pat tagged along. Having no other option but to agree, she did. And the [color=00aeef][b]Star-Spangled Girl and S.T.R.I.P.E.[/b][/color] was created. With her new calling in life Courtney's life was finally on the right track. She was reconciled with her mother. She even liked Pat! Which was good because not even a month later after the whole 4th of July attack her mother announced she was pregnant.

Nearly nine months later little [color=00aeef][b]Patricia[/b][/color] was born. A few months after that [color=00aeef][b]Starman[/b][/color], whom she had fought together with against the Dragon King, retired. Upon that decision he gifted Courtney the [color=00aeef][b]Cosmic Staff[/b][/color]. With the Staff she changed her name to [color=00aeef][b]Stargirl[/b][/color] (At Mary's suggestion) to honor Jack/Starman. During this time she also joined the JSA for a brief time. When the JLA vanished she decided she'd be more help filling the void.[/indent]

Kori is a very attractive young woman. She has classic facial features and padding in all the right places. She stands tall at six foot one. She has the orange skin tone common to Tamarans. She also has bright green eyes with no pupils. When she is exceptionally emotional or using her powers, her eyes glow. She has very, very long red hair. When she uses her powers it appears trails off into flames. However this is merely an illusion.[/indent]

[indent]Tamaraneans have different physiology from Terrans. Due to her race she has certain powers:[list][*]
[b]Energy Absorption[/b]: Tameraneans can absorb solar energy from birth. The ultraviolet radiation is what powers their other natural abilities. Kori can also absorb the ultraviolet radiation from other life forms. This energy subsitutes all need for air, water, food and sleep. Though Kori does enjoy all of those things. [*][b]Flight[/b]: Tameraneans convert their ultraviolet radiation into pure energy which they use to fly. Their flight leaves behind a distinctive trail, much like a comet. Kori's trail emanates from her red hair. [*][b]Superhuman Durability[/b][*][b]Superhuman Strength[/b][*][b]Space Travel[/b]: Tameraneans, Kori included, can also use their power to fly through space not just on their planet. Kori's speed in space is extremely fast. Almost as fast as a Green Lantern can travel.[*]
[b]Lingustic Assimilation[/b]: Through physical contact a Tameranean is able to absorb the language of the touched individual. [/list]Kori also received powers from her time as a prisoner of the Psions[list][*][b]Starbolts[/b]: While in the hands of the Psions they preformed experiments upon her. A result of one of them are her Starbolts. The ability to channel her absorbed energy into highly concentrated solar energy blasts. She can also releases all her energy at once in a quasi-nova blast but it's uncontrollable so she has never resorted to it.[/list]Other than her extraordinary abilities Kori is a a skilled warrior due to her own natural abilities[list][*][b]Hand-to-Hand Combat[/b]: Kori was trained by the Warlords of Okaara, the best fighters in the Vegan System.[/list][/indent]
[b][u][color=F4660F]Backstory:[/color][/u][/b]
[indent]Kori was the middle child of the royal family. Her older sister, [color=F4660F][b]Komand'r[/b][/color], was the successor of the Tameran throne. Or would have been had she not been plagued by a disease. A disease so terrible it had no name but robbed the unfortunate soul of their natural ability to convert ultraviolet radiation into energy. Komand'r was flightless. And so it was decided that Komand'r could not be a successor and the title passed to Kori. This created the tension and hatred between the two sisters. Komand'r resented her sister for being what she could not. When the two young girls were sent to the [color=F4660F][b]Warlords of Okaara[/b][/color] to learn the art of War and the Humanities Komand'r's resentment grew and grew.

Kori took the the training very well. She absorbed it like a sponge. Unlike her sister who struggled. Then one day Komand'r was no where to be found. Kori worried for her sister but continued her training with the Okaara. She had her duty to her people. A while passed until she was recalled by her father to Tameran. He didn't tell her what for and Kori hoped with all her heart that nothing was wrong. 

Upon arrival at the palace Kori learned the terrible truth. Tameran had been attacked by the [color=F4660F][b]Citadel[/b][/color]! The Citadel were conquerors. They had enslaved twenty one planets in the Vega system and now they had apparently subdued beautiful Tameran. In exchange for the Citael for not enslaving the defeated Tameran they handed over Kori to them. It was only then she learned of her sister's involvement. How Komand'r had betrayed Tameran to the Citadel because of Kori. And they both paid the price dearly.

For six years Kori and Komand'r were tormented and tortured by the Citadel. When they finally released them it was only to give her over to the [color=F4660F][b]Psions[/b][/color]. The Psions were cruel scientists who reveled in pain and unethical experiments. They wanted to see how much energy the Tameraneans could absorb until they blew up, amongst other tests and experiments. One of the last experiments the Psions ever preformed on Kori was the one where they [i]gifted[/i] her with her [color=F4660F][b]Starbolts[/b][/color]. With her new powerful weapon Kori broke free and killed her Psion captors. 

Kori was tempted after her escape not to free her sister also, but her love and mercy couldn't let her. She set Komand'r free from her torture. But instead of being grateful Komand'r used her new abilities to nearly kill Kori and restrained her for execution. But Kori wasn't helpless. She took the first opportunity she could to escape. That escape lead her to [color=F4660F][b]Earth[/b][/color] and [color=F4660F][b]Dick Grayson[/b][/color]. 

The two fell into a whirlwind romance after the young woman kissed him to learn his language. Kori knew in her heart that Dick would be her true love. She also grew to know that Dick didn't seem to feel the same. Her fears came true after their almost wedding where they broke off their relationship. Kori was devastated but she loved Dick enough that she would let him go.

Without Dick Kori's mind turned more and more to the planet of her birth. Earth was a nice place, but it was no Tameran. People were so uptight. They hid their feelings and didn't follow their passions. She felt constrained here and the feeling wasn't pleasant after years of captivity. But she didn't feel safe returning to Tameran. Her sister was out there somewhere searching for her, of that she had no doubt. And her family wouldn't protect her. They'd proven that before when she was only a young girl. 

Yet Tameran called to her. She tried to push the pull away but with her denial of her feelings came guilt. She was acting more like a human ignoring her feelings. With that realization Kori returned to Tameran. Upon arrival she realized Tameran was at peace. Her sister was ruler of Tameran and while her initial rise to power had been barbaric the young woman had changed her ways and was now a just ruler. Even her mother and father supported her as Queen. 

Kori was beyond thrilled that her family was back together. There was even a new addition in the form of a little brother, [color=F4660F][b]Ryand'r[/b][/color]. Kori had no plans to return to Earth. She was home and things were finally okay. She even feel in love and married [color=F4660F][b]Ph'yzzon[/b][/color], a general. Then the worst came again. Not even a year later Tameran was attacked by the Psions. Both Kori and Ph'yzzon lead the armies against the scientists. But to no avail. Ph'yzzon died. Tameran was imploded. What was left of her people scattered to the stars. 

Kori was adrift, literally and figuratively, she had no home and her love left her again. As she floated in the void of space she came to realize she did have someone to return to. Earth.[/indent]

[indent]After returning to Earth Kori quickly learned the news of the League's disappearance. They were a major force in stopping her re-abduction after her escape all those years ago. Seeing the loss resonated deeply in the Tameran who had just lost her world. She couldn't let this one fall either.[/indent]
