The nonexistent is whatever we have not sufficiently desired." -Franz Kafka At a glance, many would mistake Erwin more than just a few years below his chronological age. With jet black hair, auburn irises, and a borderline androgynous outward appearance, the boy's been faced with a slew of confusions. Standing at 5'7", "intimidating" is a word that has yet to be, and probably never will be attributed to the young adult. Name: Freund, Erwin Age: 20 Gender: Male Callsign/Codename: Halcyon Kills: 9 Psychological Analysis: Since when did the UEE become so desperate that it began drafting children? That was one of the many thoughts that floated through the practitioner's conscience as she stared at the official paperwork in disbelief. Somehow, by reality stretched so thinly, the individual before her awkwardly awaiting an analysis was a twenty year old, who on top of his appearance and blatantly obvious demeanor had made it through basic training. A kid in mind, body, soul, and every other possible aspect, Erwin isn't your stock combatant. Which in a sense, isn't exactly a good or bad thing. The young adult displays a distinctly diffident behavior. Awkward, quirky, and painfully timorous, it's a miracle and frankly a mystery as to how he made it through even the first week of basic. Though once documentations and records of training exercises were factored into the equation, this practitioner finally uncovered a truth that would warrant even Sherlock's admiration. When push came to shove, as it usually did in the midst of conflict, Erwin had the ability to "man up", as unbelievable as it may be. During these occurrences, the soldier showed acts of valor, bravery, and incredibly, charisma. But much like the practitioner, upon first meeting, many draw the conclusion that it would be safer to have Erwin in a communications hub instead of on the front lines. Of course the road stops there, as Erwin is commonly discarded as a fleeting memory. Despite the words of mockery, and once in a blue moon, derision that Erwin receives, the boy is exceedingly polite. Without a single bone of contempt in his body, he speaks attentively and makes respecting others the utmost priority. His brain doesn't hold a capacity for grudges it seems. Although messages can be nebulously received through his stammered speech, if one would be as so kind to give the young adult a sliver of patience and time to gather his thoughts, they would be met with a refreshing and open-minded youth. Since the pilot is still relatively new to the arts of warfare, he is more than apt to learn from his seniors, though doesn't shirk from putting in his two cents whenever he builds up enough courage to do so. There are also a few subtle noteworthy characteristics that could be considered pertinent. Erwin seems to be fond of listening to music, reading, and other calming activities to put his mousy character to ease. He shows a distinct affinity for tending to the little things, always observant of his surroundings. Upon questioning, he explained that he remained vigilant for his comrades' sake. Military Record: If Erwin's life could be comprised in one phrase, it would be "Drawing the short straw". Born as the runt of the litter to a family that presided over a technologically bolstered farm, a rarity in this day and age, it was evident that the rigorous expectations set for the boy wouldn't be met by willpower alone. In spite of this, the boy still tried. He siphoned his life's essence into his resolve and assisted the two other Freund brothers and his parents as soon as he was able. An act of selflessness some might call it, but in reality, the kid just wanted to be useful. It soon became evident that the farm life wasn't for him. His parents knew that their child was destined for greater horizons. They did not know where the boy would meet boundaries, but there was no way he could remain chained to hurling fertilizer for hours. In between schooling and the farm work he was still adamant to be committed to, the youth savored spans of serenity filled with the written word alone. In hectic times, people just need a little bit of bliss to stave off grief. To fast forward a bit, one thing led to another, and the boy wound up in the academy as one of many trainees with their hopes set high. Or well in his case, his hopes fixated at a moderate height. Kind of. With no redeeming qualities and a total lack of renowned pedigree, Erwin soon fell into line as one of the tertiary characters, an individual whose sole existence was for filler or if he was ever graced, a faint tinge of flavor. At least being used as a weight was one of the most demeaning things he experienced. While many of the aeronautical trainees in his class were destined to bear wings of sovereignty, Erwin was almost certain he would flunk out when combat exercises began to crop up more frequently. But as the events began to pile up, the teen's unforeseen exploits began to catch more attention. Like a lightning strike out of the blue, the little mouse of a human would suddenly shift gears and piece back together his unit whenever shit hit the fan. Although he was never explicitly credited in reports, many could extrapolate that his actions were pivotal to the tides of exercises. When volunteers were beckoned for the MAS program, Erwin found himself at a crossroads. To his understanding, the criteria for the ideal admittance could be simplified to the best of the best. The reputable culminations of the UEE, hearts and souls exuding honor and integrity. Yet after a lot of mulling, the young adult decided to submit his form and delved into strenuous courses in preparation for the program. After receiving all of the necessary education and training, the young adult was then assigned to the 101st and coupled with a staple Sentry MAS. Much like the animal people usually relate to him, the Light unit only amplified his skittish character, a nimble exterior and a jumpy demeanor behind the controls. Although his comrades didn't want to admit it, Erwin controlled the high-speed fighter with amazing ease. Within the hull of the FTX-003 Sparrow, Erwin ran multiple side ops preceding battles, most of which rarely entailed any confrontation on his part. Most is the key word, since the pilot has felt the sensation of ending another's life. Duncan MacDougall may have quantified the human soul to a mere twenty-one grams, but to altruistic individuals such as Erwin, the burden felt much, much heavier. Since the youth displayed an aptitude for stealth missions that still had the potential to lead to a fray, the young adult qualified for a MAS built specifically just for that role. The Zeitgeist, a project that yielded only a scant amount of finished mechs, only half of which remained entirely assembled. Its developers did not want to see the fruit of their efforts go to waste, so they turned to the 101st to determine if any of its members would suffice. Of course the pilot wasn't just given the unit and sent off with a pat on the back. Having already shown the highest affinity for the build, he still needed to submerge himself in training specifically pertaining to the mech. But since the connection was already there between man and machine, the youth didn't have the slightest remorse. Erwin had only ran a handful of scouting missions with Zeitgeist before the Battle of Cerol, in which he provided high awareness for the squad he was assigned to. The group took heavy losses, but the pilot was able to survive the tragic event, and is now awaiting further assignment while retreating with friendly forces. Equipment: .44 revolver, rather archaic. The entity's aim was to design an independent Light MAS to serve and flesh out myriad of secondary facets without straying too far from efficiency in main mission types. The companies strove for a platform that excelled in clandestine deployments, ranging from recovering missing or stolen resources to setting up ordinance well in advance for an assault. The product of these aspirations was the Zeitgeist MAS, a swift moving mech outfitted with an array of accessories for proficiency in covert operations. Despite the number of add-ons Zeitgeist is equipped with, this potential hindrance was well accounted for, as the developers provided adequate energy to operate. Only four mechs were completely built, whilst two more remained unfinished after the project was discontinued due to prevalence of other already present builds. Only two of the four fully finalized units remain preserved, with only one currently in service, that being the second MAS. The MAS is able to handle combat from cover as long as it is operating in conjunction to other units. Zeitgeist also has a built-in multi-tether system for the pilot to directly interact with the battlefield, in the case of civilian extraction, yet the cockpit only has room for one other passenger, maybe two depending on size. Systems - 15 Weight/20 Power:

Improved Reactor Output 3 WT +5 PW: - A high end customization used by pilots. Using efficient parts and techniques, this upgrade allows MAS's to add an additional +5 PWR to their generator output. However, this improved reactor requires pilots to reduce the load on their units to prevent damage to the MAS, and costs 3 WT - cannot be taken simultaneously with Improved Reactor Draw
ZEN-SMG "Splinter" 3 WT 2 PW: The Zeitgeist's lone armament, a rapid-firing SMG capable of short-mid range combat, chambered in 20 mm. Designed to be fired in controlled bursts when applied in moderate distance engagements, the Splinter heavily compliments the mech's fast paced combat style, as it truly shines in hit and run combat. Externally, it is essentially a blown up KRISS Vektor with four 45 round magazines.
"Acheron" Dagger 2 WT: A generic but reliable dagger that Erwin relies on when things get a little too personal. Also efficient in cutting materials and clearing debris.
Enhanced Radar Suite(Internal) 3 PW: - effectively doubles the MAS's radar range, Enhanced Radar Suites, as most extra systems, come in two variants, internal and external suites.
Stealth Drive 0 WT 5 PW: - Stealth Drives allow a MAS to remain hidden from most scanning and targeting modules, and removes most of the MAS's emissions at the cost of a small amount of maximum thrust. It does not however protect the MAS from visual recognition. Stealth Drives draw 5 PWR.
Active Camouflage 3 WT and 3 PW: - A camouflage generator attached to the back of a MAS, it projects a field of particles over the MAS, effectively making it invisible to the human eye, as well as optical scanners, and tracking modules. The generator does not however shield the user from all scanners, and the generator unit itself produces large amounts of heat. Camouflage generators are also notorious for consuming large amounts of energy, and while unable to be used with a external power pack, comes with a small power supply of its own, resulting in 3 WT and 3 PWR. The standard Active Camouflage generator can only continuously produce particles for a single hour before beginning to massively drain the power reserves of the MAS.
Light Alloy Plating 3 WT: a layer of extra armor over the MAS's arms, shoulders, and legs. A plate of light alloy will survive a single glancing blow from a plasma weapon, and provides limited protection from other weapons but provides little protection from explosives
Upgraded Targeting Suite (External) 1 WT 1 PW: - Increasing the effective range and accuracy of the MAS's weapon system, Upgraded Targeting Suites has a Smart AI that quickly determines range as well as any other environmental factors faster than MAs's the onboard computer, and projects the predicted weapon path on the user's HUD.
Countermeasure System: - Countermeasure systems are often used by lighter MAS's to avoid missiles instead of using body mounted machine guns to intercept them. Using chaff and flares, countermeasure systems are negligible in terms of weight and power, but only has 3 chaff uses, and 6 sets of flares before needing to rearm. Total Weight Used: 13/15 | Total Power Used: 15/20
