Ystin is somewhat short, although for his physical age and biological gender he'd be around average height. The magical golden armour and horned helmet he wears is partially what gained him the moniker "Shining Knight", and he wields a glittering sword of exquisite quality. Ystin rides atop Vanguard, a mighty white stallion who flies using large swan-like wings.
Powers/Skills:

Immortality: Ystin and Vanguard have drank from the Grail, and thus no longer age. His immortality solely applies to aging and natural causes, and he is well aware of the fact that he could potentially be slain in battle. When the strain of immortality proves to be too much, Ystin and Vanguard enter a deep slumber that can last for centuries at a time.
Expert Swordsmanship: As can be expected from one of the knights of Camelot, Ystin is a swordsman almost without peer. These skills have been honed throughout untold amounts of battles, against both mortal foes and the legions of Hell themselves, and as such Ystin's confidence in the blade is very well deserved.
Caliburn Ex Calibur: Does it really need to be said? The legendary sword, variously known as Caledfwlch, Calesvol, and most famously as Excalibur. Most likely not the exact same Excalibur wielded by the medieval King Arthur, but rather a prototypical version from the earliest Camelot cycle. The sword is unbreakable, can supposedly cut through anything, and shines with a dull light when drawn.
Magic Armour: A suit of shining golden armour, and coupled with his general demeanour the reason why Ystin is known as the Shining Knight. It is enchanted to be much lighter and stronger than it would appear, thus allowing Ystin to move unhindered whilst wearing it whilst being able to shrug off mighty blows and gunshots as though they were nothing.
Vanguard: Ystin's mighty steed, a winged horse that like the Shining Knight has drank from the Grail and attained immortality. The two have been stalwart companions and partners throughout the millenia, and have formed an unshakable bond.

Backstory:
Hear now the legend of Sir Ystin, the Shining Knight; an epic tale of magic swords and foul sorcery, fell demons and glorious knights, brave heroes and dread villains. A tale that begins roughly ten millenia ago, during the reign of Artus the Bear King and the first of many Camelots to recur throughout history. A callow young squire, Ystin was present during the last days of Camelot, when the alliance of knights was sundered and the glorious civilization that stood as a bastion of chivalry and honour was razed by unnatural forces. Many knights fell during those dark times, and Ystin would have been one of them had Merlin not intervened. Finding the mortally wounded Ystin alongside his winged horse Vanguard, the wizard let the two drink from the Grail, restoring their vitality whilst cursing them with immortality. Throughout the ages that passed afterwards, Ystin and Vanguard wandered the earth, righting many wrongs and fighting many evils as they felt drawn towards some unknowable goal, guided only by instinct and the occassional cryptic vision from Merlin. As time went on, they grew weary of their eternal life and needed to rest, slumbering for centuries before awakening in the dark ages, unaware that another Camelot cycle had occured whilst the two slept. During this time, the Shining Knight joined a ragtag alliance of heroes (some more heroic than others, to be fair) who would later become known as the Demon Knights, alongside the cursed Jason O' the Blood, his sorcerous lover Madame Xanadu, the mysterious Horsewoman, the exiled Amazon Exoristos, the scientist Al Jabr (the sole member of the group who wasn't immortal in some way), and... Vandal Savage, who centuries later would prove to be one of the most dangerous supervillains on the planet. Together, they fought against the Questing Queen and her hordes of barbarians, dinosaurs and mechanical dragons, helped protect the mystical island of Avalon from an invasion by Lucifer and the forces of Hell, battled the first vampire Cain to prevent him from turning the Amazons of Themyscra into an invincible vampiric army... Suffice to say, they were kept busy, and after many quests (as well as the sudden yet inevitable betrayal of Vandal Savage), the weariness once again fell upon Ystin and Vanguard, and once more they slept through centuries... Awaking in the early 21st century, Ystin found a world far different than any they had seen before, a world where technology ruled and where magic hid in the shadows. But even in a world such as this, there were still heroes; the knights of the League of Justice standing above all others, serving as paragons of right and inspiration to all who would stand against the forces of evil. And in this new world of heroes Ystin once more was recruited into a group of seven, albeit one where the members knew not of each other's actions as they faced a malevolent force from the end of time who wished to harvest humanity. Once this threat was dealt with, Ystin adapted to the modern age in the only possible way; it wasn't too much of a change to become a superhero after having been a knight sworn to justice, after all. And when the news spread that the League of Justice had vanished, there was only one thing Ystin could do, and that was to seek out like-minded individuals to stand for the same ideals as they did and help protect the innocent in their stead. For evil and tyranny should never be allowed to succeed, not while one Knight of Camelot still endures.
Motivation for joining the League?:
Well... Ystin was a Knight of Camelot, and as such strives to uphold justice, defend the weak and punish evildoers. The title "Shining Knight" doesn't just refer to his armour, as Ystin really is the archetypal knight in shining armour, having fought alongside various heroes throughout the millenia in the constant war against base villainy. Having witnessed the fall of Camelot firsthand, Ystin knows full well what can happen when such a powerful group of heroes such as the Justice League vanishes, and is dedicated towards preventing anyone who would wish to do harm to innocents from taking advantage of the situation for their own foul means.
What do you bring to the League?:
Thousands of years of combat experience, a legendary magical sword and an unshakable dedication towards the cause of justice. Having been a member of both the Knights of Camelot and the Demon Knights, Ystin is a good team player who generally works well with others.
Notes
Ystin is bisexual, having felt unrequited love for Galahad and later entering a relationship with the exiled Amazon Exoristos. ...And yeah, Ystin is also transgender, having been born a woman. Honestly, this point was the main reason I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to try and play him, since I was kind of worried about screwing it up, but I really like the character (especially since not only does Ystin appeal to my noblebright tendencies but if I get writer's block I can always replace his dialogue with power metal lyrics and have everyone be none the wiser) and felt that it's a gamble I'm willing to take. So... Yeah. ^^;
