The hum and warmth of the animal only justifying her actions. “I noticed her as we were coming to the castle. Two boys with wooden swords were chasing the poor thing; if I’m not mistaken they meant to kill it.” She fondled one of the cat’s soft ears between her fingers, the superstition of the realm had always been apparent, but she had never suspected a poor black cat would meet a lethal fate; even a reminder of a witch was enough to set people on edge. "Isn’t she lovely? We can name her during the tournament.” She grinned, pleased to have found some source of entertainment other than the clang of metal and wood of the jousting. “Mother? I assumed she was with Edwin.” Her response of course was of no help, as she had no idea where her oldest brother was at the moment either; most likely filling in as the gallant leader and dutiful heir of the family with their father back at Mount Promonon in his sick bed. Juliana allowed Emmaline to guide her through the crowd, noting the ease and grace her sister possessed even when walking into unknown territory. Juliana’s eyes roamed the crowd and spotted her brothers as her sister greeted them. A mischievous smile spread across her face as she spotted her youngest brother, Trystan, in his gleaming new armor and she exchanged a smirk with Balian. She knew her brother well enough that he had mentioned the outfit to Trystan , while Emmaline offered a teasing comment as well. Juliana raised an eyebrow as though in mock surprise, “Why dear sister, we must be later than we even imagined! I think we missed the tournament all together, and our sweet brother won the hand of the princess! He is merely so dressed to celebrate his victory.” She gave a small curtsy to Trystan, the teasing in her voice softened by a tenderness she reserved for her family,"Your Majesty! When do you meet your child bride?”
