Wouldn't work.  In both the original comic and the different but still highly enjoyable BatB adaptation, the Joker is defeated only by exploiting his dualistic nature with Batman.  Since Batman isn't around right now, he'd be literally unbeatable (seeing how he turns the most powerful gods in the DCU into babbling imbeciles and later proceeds to just unmake reality), and whilst a [i]challenging [/i]foe is pretty fun to face, one that cannot be beat... Isn't.
