For god's sake, sixteen years!" And because of a mistake that happend sixteen years ago, because of a dark past and a dark spot on her chest, Joanna Rosier and her family of four are on the run. The darkness from her past has found her and is bloodthirsty for it's vengeance. Silently creeping up behind her back like a dark and dangerous fog to devour all happiness and life, the never forgetting Silencers are going after the small Rosier family. [sub]"The past always catches up with you, Joanna. You can't outrun it."[/sub] The Silencers are a patient and very organised group of people and a lot bigger than people assume them to be. Just as cruel and dangerous as the Death Eaters, but with much more self control, the Silencers appear and disappear throughout the history. Their actual large numbers appear foolishly small in every document that mentions their group. The Silencers are at every occassionaly conversation about them described as a cult. No one that stands outside their group knows their motives and who they follow. Their rules and methods are strict, consistent and unified. They walk with no sound on their feet - a stick could visibly crack and make no sound whatsoever. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard. Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may 'die' and need replacing.

Hogwarts House
formerly Ravenclaw
Occupation
Studying Fantastic Beasts
Sexuality
Bisexual
Relationship Status
Married
Family Members
TBA
Appearance
TBA
Personality
TBA - adventurous, animal friendly, secretive, determined, goal-oriented
Habits | Oddities | Quirks
✩ ✩ ✩
Likes
+ Magical Creatures + Cuddling with cats + learning new things +
Dislikes
~ having to be on the run ~ explaining herself ~ ~
Fears
# losing her family # The Silencers # being a bad parent # boggarts # angry centaurs
History
TBA - all about why they haunt her and her family
Worth to Mention
None

Relationship Board
[sub]
Parent 2 aka Wife/Husband
[/sub] "Say it out loud." Give it deep thought. I am sure of it. They call it the veil. Because we can't look to the outside. What's behind it? No one knows. The end of the world? An expansion of the city? A great nothing? Danger? The sky? We have been here for.... always. There's records about us having been here for more than 200.000 years. Of course the city looked much different back then and we were not as advanced, as social, as intelligent as we are not. They call it evolution. When I was little I didn't understand why we have two words for the place we live in. The City. Our world. People say 'the city is our whole world'. But if the city is the same as the word, then the world is the same as the city - and why would there need to be two words for the very same thing? Now I understand. The veil, the barrier, the wall of dust that was the end of our city... might not be the end of the world. So it is not the same thing. The city is where we live, where we have ever lived. But the world... the world includes whatever might be on the other side of that veil. Some people talk about it sometimes, strange theories, whispers, but no one really knows for sure. Even those who insist they do. The veil, they tell us, is there to protect us from the outside world. It could not be any other way. The veil was the border between our safe place and the cruelness of devilish monsters that lurked behind it. Many have tried to understand the veil, some even tried to cross the veil, cut it open, slip through it, but it was all to no use. The veil stood and no one could change that. And why would we want to? We are safe. We don't know what's behind. If the veil ever failed, it could destroy us all. The veil is a high wall, reaching up to the sky, no one has ever been able to reach it's top. The city is a place with about 2.530 citizens. There's the Capital, which is a big round place in the middle of the city, second-hand markets are often being held here. We don't throw away a lot of things. Second-hand shopping is the most used form of buying things. For things you can't buy second-hand (food, drinks, paper towels, toilet paper, protection for sexual intercourse, ect.) or for when you can't find what you're looking for as a second-hand product, there's the mall. The mall is on the western side of the city, a flat building with two floors. The lower floor consists of three food stores, two "every day use"-stores (they sell small, daily life things like tissues or cleaning supplies) and one furniture store. Sitting in the upper floor are one medium clothing store and one small one, a cozy restaurant, a plants shop, the decoration shop and the hairdresser. To the east and north of the city are wide fields, a small forest sitting at the north-west side. To the south, further out, very near to the veil are the factories where waste gets burned and water gets recycled. Other than that the city has many little houses with small or big gardens to offer. A lot of people grow their own vegetables, some with a larger garden then sell some of their on the market. Nothing goes to waste if it's still usable.

They have:
Running warm water, showers, bath tubs, toilets, sinks Electricity Lamps, radio Commquis (Communication Quickeners; they are similar to pages, can be worn on belts and used to send a message of 140 words or less) Computers (very expensive due to the high effort in producing them; they are solely for typing words out in documents) Printers (to print documents written on a PC) Machines in the factories Stove and Oven
They don't have:
Cars or Motorcycles (no need at all) World Wide Web Hospital technologies (but they do have an understanding of the body)

Drawing Riding a bike Small medical knowledge Medium cooking skills Some to high knowledge in gardening Sewing

The Plot

Act I: The Beginning
Characters start their posts living their daily lives. It's the end of summer, a sunny, breezy August day. It's Thursday and the market is back in the Capital. We get to know the characters' daily routines, they get to meet up at the market, do their shopping, interact, make plans for the day and the weekend. It ends with the world shaking slightly, something to have never happened before, people in fear. The shaking ends and no one knows what happened. The major (a black woman!) decides to no tell the people yet, trying to hinder a fearful outbreak. But the word gets out, people on the street whisper, it's noticeable that suddenly something secretive is going on. Our characters hear the whispers, wonder how much truth is in it and come to the conclusion that they'll have to see the crack in the veil for themselves. Sneaking off to find the crack at dark night, they notice that suddenly watchers are standing out. They are the 'police' of the city, protecting people from one another, organizing events (also the market) and answering citizen's questions if they can. Now they seem to be keeping an eye on the crack in the veil.
Act II: The Veil
The characters talk about what happened. They come together and discuss what this might mean. They have seen the crack for themselves and are concerned. What is happening and why is it happening? The friends try to figure out what to do about the information. Should they tell the rest of the people? Should they keep quiet? Should they investigate on their own? They decide to find out more about the veil first. Wanting to know everything there was to know. They talked to people, but mostly they searched old books and parchment rolls. (Where they also find a map, that they can't read or even decipher as such.) History-loving, theory-sparking [my character] drops the theory of a mystic old crystal having produced the veil thousands of years ago - she read in an ancient old book about it, that she had found months ago. Conveniently. Something must be wrong with the crystal. The characters find out more information about the veil. It takes a while, but it's happening. They decide that all they could find vaguely adds up with [my character]'s theory. They search for documentaries, that speak of something similar having happened before, but are unable to find any.
Act III: Lock
[Character 1] upon sitting over the books and parchments and especially the drawings, notices that the weird drawing is a map. They tell their friends about the discovery. The group gives the idea a chance, but also points out that the map does not fit The City. Someone decides to whip out old maps and drawing of the city to find a connection - it could be an old map after all, from years ago when the city looked different. Turns out that idea didn't go anywhere. None of the city drawings fit the map. [Character 1] makes the assumption that it could also be underground, that there's a single thing that's different and it could be an entrance to the surface. The friends try to decipher the map, where could the entrance lie? They assume that the map only shows The City and nothing beyond the veil. That gives them four spots (depending on how you turn the map) to look for the entrance. North, South, East and West. They part to search for the entrance in all of these four spots. Their first try is false, both teams don't find the entrance. Going another night, they split again, this time one team finds the entrance. It needs a special old stone key.
Act IV: Key
Yet again frustrated that they need another puzzle piece, but also excited about their discovery the friends come together again to plan for their next steps. It turns out, upon accident, [Character 2] comes across the key. An old triangle-shaped, palm-sized stone is in his family's possessions, a family heirloom. It fits the lock perfectly. The entrance to the underground opens and reveals a dark hole. They have to jump. Letting down one person by their arms completely, they have to drop him and see how deep it is. It's risky and silly. He drops far, about 50 feet down, and then hits the ground - it hurts and bruises him, but he is fine. He did not hit as hard as he should, according to physical laws. He tells them to jump as well. Going down the rabbit hole, they all jump.# Down they light flashlights and look around. They are standing in the middle of a round room, on what seems to be a round podium. The hole above them is a tiny spot of the night sky. There's eight ways leading out of the room, all pitch dark. There's no signs on the walls or the like. Just a round room with a podium and eight open ways to go.
Act V: Gems
[Character 1] deciphers the map and tries to lead them the right way. In this chapter they'll walk through the labyrinth, following the map and they find the crystal. They notice the crystal has a crack. Similar as the veil. It stands on a podium, stairs leading upwards. The crystal is in the middle of what seems to be an open flower with eight petals holding something. Upon stepping closer it becomes clear that the petals are nonetheless than hands, open palms. There's eight spots. One empty - one filled with an emerald - one empty - one filled with a ruby - one empty - one filled with a diamond - one empty - another empty. The crack appears on the side, where the gem is missing. To the friends it soon becomes obvious that the gem must have been removed somehow. They have to find it to make sure the veil stays in tact.
Last Act: Replaced
All gems are replaced. The crystal is restored. A shaking, a growling goes through the ground, the friends tremble and fall, the loud echo pains in their ears, they get dizzy from the loud sound. Then it's over. They make their way back to the top. Exhausted, but happy and floating on a cloud of success. But as they reach the top, people look concerned, a huge crowd has formed, whispering and frowning, panic in their eyes. The friends elbow their way through the crowd. And they see the veil, it's inside are spiraling, whirling, actively and fast, faster and faster. It stopped. And with that the veil lifted. One of the friends has stolen the gems while the others didn't notice. They wanted to veil to lift. The friend has now disappeared and is nowhere to be found. The friend was also the one guiding them towards the crystal, moving them forward when they got stuck. He needed them to replace the gem he took. Because when he took the first gem, he was too mesmerized by it, costing out the moment, he missed the time window. The crystal activated a defensive mechanism, the ground shook, the gem slipped out of his hand, touched the ground and - disappeared. And from that moment on the crystal had a protective shield around the other gems, he was not able to get to them. But he studied the crystal and it's story long enough to know that the process could be relived. He just needed to place the gem back and then remove them all together before the crystal would be activate it's protection.
