[@Darcs] Nah, in this timeline the Sole Survivor didn't really care too much about side-quests and just went on a single minded mission to find Shaun, encountering the Brotherhood along the way and buying into their anti-synth/mutant/ghoul rhetoric wholesale. Since all of Vault 81 is considered a side-quest, then Curie is free game. Same goes for most companions for that matter, with the exception of Preston, Danse and Codsworth. The Sole Survivor likely encountered Piper, Nick Valentine and John Hancock at some point but didn't travel with them.

If you want to place Curie in a Synth body, I'm cool with that too.
