[/quote] That's a good question. I'm thinking fitting in with the theme of secrets, he started out as one of the average mortals of Galbar. However, through the seeking of what makes up the stories of divine and the powers that be, stumbled across and imbibed some form of divine essence. As a result, doing something sort of like Slough, undergoing a sort of cocooning where the various gods can try to add their own boons or maluses. After that's done, he emerges as a (demi)god of his own, free to do as he chooses.
