To Cameron, everything in life is a puzzle, and she has the god-given gift to solve it. Nothing gives her greater satisfaction than finding the logic behind something. But she isn’t a machine; she values life, and the freedom that comes with it. Sometimes, it’s a paradox that she struggles to solve: how can she logically reconcile giving everyone the right of complete freedom, when terrible people exist in the world? For now, much of her answer hinges on the idea that being good or being terrible is a relative concept, just as the physical world can appear to change based on perspective. Cameron fiercely defends her answer and her belief in it, often causing more problems than she’d like. She often ends up in those kinds of situations, as she has a mouth that tends to run away and get her into trouble. And she doesn’t handle trouble well. Though she talks herself into trouble, rarely can she talk herself out, and she lacks the emotional composure to handle any kind of serious problem. But beneath her all bark no bite attitute, that question still lingers, and it eats away at her, even though she won’t tell a soul about it.
> Backstory:
Her parents designed armaments of various sorts for the Inquisitors and their armies, a job they were more than willing to carry out. For much of her early life, Cameron was happy to learn the family’s business and pick up the trade when she became of age, but the rebellious phase of her teenage years hit her hard. She became incredibly introspective as her rationally operating mind found faults in the logic of society, leading her to begin to disrespect her parents frequently and lose interest in supporting the Inquisitors with weapons. As her teenage angst and bitterness began to interfere with the reasoning and logic she had come to depend on, Cameron began to spiral. It started with alcohol, then light drugs, then heavier drugs as she sought to drown out the noise in her head. She managed to get away with it for a short time without letting it bother her on a daily basis, but one day, Cameron decided enough was enough, and she was gonna do it. She was gonna Stick It To The Man. Cameron began to use her technical know-how to create gadgets for little pranks, often using them against the law enforcement around the station. Most of the time, she would overflow a toilet someone was using, or cause their headsets to start blasting music a little too loudly. Sometimes, she’d discharge a small EMP right as they walked by, just enough to shut down their equipment. And sometimes, she’d get video of what the Inquisitors did when they thought they were alone and leave it playing on various monitors around the station. That didn’t go over well with the authorities. It didn’t take long for them to find her after that one. Tracking down where that video was going was easy pickings for the Inquisitors. When they found her, Cameron was quick to disrespect, throwing insults and snide remarks at them relentlessly. And when they threatened to shut her up, and Cameron realized just how deep in shit she was, she could do nothing but break down into tears and cry as they took her away. And Cameron’s parents, though unhappy with their daughter’s misbehavior, recognized that her actions had to be met with appropriate punishment. So they let the Inquisitors take her, despite their daughter’s desperate and hysterical cries for help and redemption, despite knowing fully well that they would likely never see their daughter again.
