[@Grinnen Baeritt] Hello fellow englishman, I'm from jolly old essex. What sort of RPs do you like?
Many and varied. Which I like depends entirely upon my mood. I've tried nearly all the genres.. but prefer to play games which moods/settings that are not too heavy. (If I wanted heavy and depressing I'd just watch the news)... I started with Basic/Advanced D&D, Bushido, Villains and Vigilantes, Chivalry & Sorcery, Rolemaster.. so on the whole mostly fantasy. Favourite RPG to play in : almost certainly 1930's Call of Cthulhu. Favourite Setting in an RPG: Blue Planet (Which for the un-initiated is a "Hard" Sci-fi setting/rules system). My least favourite genre is Super-hero. Why? Well, I find that many of the systems out there are either bound by canon (I know very little about either Marvel or D.C.) or simply do not *feel* like super-hero games when you play them. There are a few exceptions... but I admit I've only enjoyed *despite* the system. (Due to humour... which always tend to seep into my games..) Type of RP? Well, I've been in quite a few forum based games before, on other forums, I've successfully run/finished all but one... but been a player in MANY that simply fizzle out, sometimes even during character creation/establishment due to GM burnout. I would choose to RUN games that are very system heavy, but I'd handle all the rolls/rules myself. Because I table-top a lot, I prefer to run those that *play* in that style/way... I've also done some Forum-Based Wargames acting as a referee What I normally choose to play when I'm table-topping RP is generally dictated by who I play with...and what is on offer. I'm a member of a Table-top RPG club that meets weekly (It's been going for about 30 years now) which switches GM/DM/Referees & Games every 8 weeks..so we tend to pay short scenarios and chop and change systems rather than campaigns. As such I'm generally willing to try anything. (For example: Despite my preference for non-dark brooding games.. I'll be in a game of Demon - The Fallen (White Wolf) next! If it's a published rules system, chances are I either have it or have played it. Seriously. My wife despairs. :) What would I prefer to play here? I really don't know at the moment. I may just read through a few games, I've tried some co-operative narrative storytelling games before.. but my grammar really isn't up to much, so for games that are overly keen on that aspect, it's probably best I avoid ;)
