Gabriel winced as Sue's ability had amplified what he had said to a rather high degree of volume. It didn't exactly hurt him or his ears, but it was "painful" in the sense of utterly surprising. Kind of like when you get into a car early in the morning, turn it on, and be met with a loud blast of music you had left playing the day before. That type of painful. Gabriel nodded and passed a nearby paper to Sue before going to sit at a desk. "That went well..." Gabriel thought back to the gym and obstacle course, suddenly remembering how loud it actually was.
