Gabriel winced as Sue's ability had amplified what he had said to a rather high degree of volume. It didn't exactly hurt him or his ears, but it was "painful" in the sense of utterly surprising. Kind of like when you get into a car early in the morning, turn it on, and be met with a loud blast of music you had left playing the day before. That type of painful.

Gabriel nodded and passed a nearby paper to Sue before going to sit at a desk. 

"That went well..."

Gabriel thought back to the gym and obstacle course, suddenly remembering how loud it actually was. It had been filled with people, but not nearly enough to have been as loud as it was. Looks like Sue's power was manipulating sound, but unfortunately she had little control over this. That would explain why she would onlynspeak in sign to that one kid that she had been with since school started. It could also explain the guards...
