No need for a matchbox," the grimy gardener called out in response to the implication. "it's gonna be a lot of peoples' first days today, and I don't want to be responsible for getting 'em murdered whilst they huff a few puffs!" and with that, the man took off with a wink and a light bounce to his step. It had been a while since the last batch of newcomers had been shipped to the island, with the previous boat being the one he'd been on. To be honest, he'd figured this place out to be far worse in his head on his way here. If he'd known peaceful, like-minded people such as himself had taken comfort within one of the bases, he wouldn't have gone through the trouble of trying to escape. The gardener scoffed. What a plan that turned out to be. At least he was still alive. After 3 weeks of aimless jogging and living on a painful vegetarian diet, he'd run into a couple of people that claimed to man a 'place' that could house occupants if only they'd asked. Peace brought is peace given, he remembered them say. It was then that he was introduced to Site Haeda, where basic human resources were aplenty. The next three weeks were spent building relationships, extensive gardening, and tea-brewing - a new hobby he'd picked up from one of the third-years. Thistle, fennel, and dandelion root... that mix was his absolute favourite, and he'd found that it settled rather violent tummy aches and the most unstable of mindsets. Perfect for the new arrivals! The excitable man made his way to the shoreline to greet the shipments, but one thing had occurred to him: he had brought only the teabags with him. As of now, he'd already walked the 18 miles to get there. Damn! Definitely should've brought the solar-powered kettle... Soon, a view of the shoreline soon came into view. Now, two he was presented two options: run straight into a pack of, he assumed, pissed-off newcomers and potentially die right there? Or, wait around the edge where he was partially hidden but safe? The first option seemed dangerously tempting, given his straight-to-the-point nature. But, he had his people he needed to look out for and plants that demanded his care back at the site. Risking his life for an awkward greeting would've been selfish. Armed with two iron jugs of water, and a couple dozen teabags, the boy trudged through the thick forestry until he reached the edge. Or rather, until he saw the girl with floral tattoos travelling around the expanses of her arms. Upon a closer approach, he could feel the air getting tighter - no, warmer as he made his way towards her. A couple more steps, and he'd already began to break a sweat. Was it just him? Or was it a really hot day? He waded through the tall grass and reached sandy terrain. By then, his brows had begun to accumulate sweat. He was just behind her then, and so extended an arm towards her. Almost instantly, he pulled it back, realizing just what he'd sneaked up on. It was almost like dipping your fingers into boiling water - first you feel the numbness, then the searing pain flows like a shockwave right through you. Although the heat was bearable, he decided to make it quick, because if he'd lost anymore water from all the sweating, that'd be at the expense of the site's water supply. Just as he was about to speak, he noticed another figure inching towards the both of them. Neither of them noticed his presence, and he was quick to decide on what to do next so as to make it obvious he wasn't a threat. “I, er... Site Borea?” the second girl's voice slightly quivered. Rico leaned against the tree nearest to them, making sure he was in clear view so as to not spook either of them. "Just a trek away, miss. Teabag? It's fennel, thistle, and dandelion root. A++ in relieving stress. I assumed y'all would need it. Don't have any hot water though..." his voice trailed off, sighing as he gently shook his water jugs.
MENTIONED: [@JunkMail] [@Ginger Kollie]
