Don't see a reason why someone should be afraid of showing off their picture. You look the way you look and it'll never really change. If someone does decide to mock anyone for their looks, then they are simply individuals that no one should associate themselves with.

Just my 2 cents in saying that you should be proud of your appearance no matter what.
