THAT was his intelligence trumping strength? Humans and their tools? Not even the reveal that he was in fact a boy could stymie his derision. What rock was he living under that he didn't understand that humans were thriving only because monster-kind as a whole preferred it that way? Let the humans live in the day, ours is the night. That was something all monsters and demons knew since conception. Except Einar apparently. Probably because his clan wanted him dead, so they avoided giving him common sense. No surprise then. He snorted as he left. He was wrong about him. He was not prey, nor was he a Hunter. Einar was just a child -- a child who had been reared to survive death, without any idea what it meant to truly kill. The knowledge of how he was raised all but confirmed it. He had yet to live and suffer as he and his clan had, a suffering that was so commonplace to them that overcoming it was practically second nature. Einar's "suffering" was was laughable compared to the pain brought on by over five thousand years of war between different races vying control for the Philippine's Night. When the large man entered, Cabal tilted his head. Looks like he had made a mistake -- along with everyone else, apparently. He idly wondered that if one person committed an error, it was naturally their fault, but if a large group did, then who was to be held accountable? Following the schedule he was given, he entered the proper classroom this time, and was promptly scolded with everyone else by their homeroom teacher. She was a cat. Why was she a cat? He had a pet cat at home. How was he supposed to take her seriously if her ears kept reminding him of his pet? Speaking of pet, he wanted to pet her now. Or scratch her ears. Would she purr the same way his cat would if he did? Cabal buried his face in his hands to avoid looking at her. Eventually, he found a seat, right next to the Kitsune -- whatever that was -- and gave a polite nod. Of course, that also meant he was near Einar, but that was a minor note for him.
Suba Realizes That Her Life Might Be In Danger Suba froze suddenly. She had been paying half a mind to the conversation between Einar and Cabal, while also trying to entertain Leo. That was when he heard what Einar said: "You threatened me the moment I got here, saying that I am "delicious", comparing me to food." Her eyes flickered to Cabal. The way he carried himself, the way he acted, and now, that term, the term that all Aswang use as a greeting. To call someone delicious was a courtesy for them. There was no doubt, Cabal was an Aswang, the Demons of Philippine's Night. Her body trembled and she took a shaky step back, barely noticing Leo and Einar talking to her. Cabal was an Aswang. Cabal was at school. Suba was at school. She was at school with an Aswang! And now she had a very good reason to fear for her life. This school may be neutral grounds for the Kataw, but not for the Aswang. The Aswang adhered to no treaties, or laws -- they were a law unto their own. It was common for different races to hire an Aswang for assassinations . . . or, worse, exterminations. Now there was one here with her. The one time a Kataw was sent away to foreign lands was the one time an Aswang did the same. This was not a coincidence. "U-ugh," she felt sick. She thought she was safe here. Her mind didn't even register as the large man entered and shouted at them. She just put as much space as she could between her and Cabal. When the class began leaving, she quickly followed them. He may have been an Aswang, but he wouldn't try anything with so many people. As long as she was here, she was sticking close to people! She would not give him the opportunity to catch her alone. Inside the classroom, Suba took the seat furthest from him, and ended up beside Leo again. "O-oh! Hi again! Ahahaha," she greeted nervously.
