It looked dangerous, to say the least. Did I really go through all that? Goddamn. "Wednesday. Surname. Sorry 'bout the abrupt intro to the island. Most people aren't exactly friendly here. Thought Ricky here was.." "Coolio!" he quickly replied with a thumbs-up. Aside from the growing darkness that enveloped the insides of the forest, he felt unsafe. Such was to be expected from an island full of convicts. Finally, Rico took in the entirety of it all and thoroughly understood what it was that made Wednesday act up. Was that also the reason why she was shooting glares at the canopy? Whatever it was, Rico took note of how she locked eyes with it for a good 5 seconds, until she flipped the damn thing off. What the shit? From a relaxed state, the air shifted and filled with an ever growing sense of tension. The three of them were alert, listening for sounds, and signs of life within before finally daring to venture. A machete-wielding Wednesday walked ahead, taking a few hacks to the unforgiving bushes that seemed to have only grown larger than when he had trekked here earlier. A few feet into the vast stretch of trees, Rico thanked his lucky stars he had decided to make the trip earlier than when most prisoners would prefer to be awake. Looking back at it, his life could have been in danger, but simply sat on the thought instead - he was surrounded by undergrowth. The gardener was in power here, what was the worst that could have happened? Swatting away a botfly, he cringed thinking about the question. To be fairly honest, a lot of things. It was beginning to get hard to tell where the sun was, and normally he wouldn't have been this tense, but if a stoic Wednesday was on high alert, then he figured he had a reason to be too. Rico looked over his shoulder and made sure Estal was still behind them. The grower stepped to the side and tilted his head, gesturing for her to go ahead. It only made sense to have her in his sights, considering the situation. Newcomer or not, people had to stay a priority. Rico followed closely behind her, and peered into the front to make sure Wednesday was still in sights. That machete would probably get worn out sooner if she kept slicing away like that, though. With a purposeful clearing of his throat, he extended his arms in front of him and sapped the energy from the flora within the span of a few seconds. This cleared out a path in front of them for a good couple of meters or so, albeit a little crunchy, but it made for good navigation. The noise the dead plants made under their steps were oddly satisfying, too. They'd almost been travelling for a solid 5 minutes when Rico whipped his head in the direction of the sound of a few twigs snapping. For sure, it couldn't have been the two women in front of him - no, it came from a few feet behind him. The absence of light made it hard to determine who it was, but the stimuli trickled out of him just barely, causing a short vine to grow around the figure that tried to make his way towards the small group. The woody-stemmed plant was wrapped tightly around the other man's ankle, Rico made sure of that. Instead of physically hurting him, he was only trying to subdue the unknown figure until he got answers that made it clear he meant no harm.
