We understand that Axon is the diplomatic sort, and if there were more players on the Librarians side things would likely have been allowed to play out however they naturally did, but with only Chen that side really couldn't stay separate now that an over-arching plot leading to an end game is in sight. 

Things had to be shoe armed a bit to get here, but Axon should be able to have more freedom now that we are through the metaphorical colander.
