Blood will have blood, they say...
The Powerbound Alliance had been formed as a peacekeeping mission. Individuals with extraordinary abilities all around the globe had come together, fighting side by side against tyranny and injustice. Formed during the Second World War, they faded into myths and legends, slowly falling out of history with each and every passing year. By the time the world welcomed in a new millennium, the Powerbound Alliance was a children's fable, a story told to those too young to understand the horrors of war. Any scholar who attempted to make a reference to the Powerbound Alliance had as much credibility as the boy who cried wolf. The legends had died out. With intense terrorist activities in the Middle East, rumors of a powerful mercenary group grew. Based in Columbia, this group of highly trained individuals worked along with soldiers in order to infiltrate some of the most deadly areas in the world. This group, calling themselves the Powerbound Alliance, ushered in what appeared to be a new era of peace and solitude. Ready to bring in their newest batch of recruits, the novices were trained in how to utilize their powers against the budding new threat: the Crime Syndicate. A sophisticated network of some of the most fierce criminals, located in Gotham, the Crime Syndicate spelled ruin for the new peace the Powerbound Alliance had created. As the world's most famous superheroes began to vanish, the Powerbound Alliance braced itself for attack from the Crime Syndicate. Unfortunately, they had neglected to prepare for a more troubling foe: Task Force X. Created by the American government under direction of Amanda Waller, Task Force X, better known as the Suicide Squad, recruited solely criminals. The likes of Deadshot, El Diablo, King Shark, and Harley Quinn comprised Task Force X for the most part, and one month after the newest recruits of the Powerbound Alliance had been trained, Task Force X struck. There were only two survivors: Nyt Arud and Edwina Fairfax. The Powerbound Alliance operated outside of the restrictions of law and order, determining for themselves what was right and what was wrong. The American government, more specifically Amanda Waller, feared that the group would soon betray its intentions and become a malevolent entity. Having confirmed the deaths of all but those two poor souls, Task Force X continues to hunt down Edwina and Nyt, determined to either end their lives or drag them to Belle Reve, a maximum security prison designed for those with powers. Here, in New York City just one week after the tragedy, our story begins... They didn't truly need to have the currents drawn--Eddie now, as a precaution, blocked the light bouncing off of them from interacting with anyone. It worked essentially like a cloaking device, allowing them to see out and no one to see in. She let out a sigh of relief, seeing Nyt still there. "No sign of Clown or Gunman," Eddie said, smiling a bit thinly. She pulled the prize, the boon of her journey, out of the bag. Two meals from the nearest McDonalds, the bags practically dripping with grease, grime, and that little something that makes McDonalds smell so odd. Handing Nyt's bag over to her, Eddie sat on her half of the bed, and dug into her Big Mac with a ferociousness that would have even impressed her ex-boyfriend, Mercury. Swallowing thickly, Edwina fell back on the pillows, entirely exhausted. They'd been on the run for a week, and already, there'd been at least ten close calls. No matter where they went, it seemed, the Suicide Squad followed them. She couldn't help but shudder at individuals able to take down everyone in the Powerbound Alliance. She and Nyt had just been lucky, having gone to sleep and kept their room perpetually dark and quiet. When the assassins had come in, Edwina hid the two of them from sight, with Nyt stifling the sound. If they hadn't been assigned as roommates, Edwina realized, the both of them would have been dead. "Did you get the fake IDs?" Edwina asked hopefully. "And, um, we should do something about our hair...At least mine...It's a bit...noticeable..."
