Okay on the orihime thing yeah forget it...kubo knew what he was doing and there is a major reason behind the "damsel in distress" thing....its not as obvious as it looks.

Secondly she is a healer and she needs to be in fights otherwise....she cant heal people making her entirely useless...she wants to fight but her powers wont allow such a thing so others fight for her...

Its like having an older brother fight your battles. You hate it because it makes you feel weak.
