I have already approved of it prior to your pm.
The suggestion to go look at other people's histories is for your own benefit as some of the old bloods may interact with your character a particular way given the character history. So don't be surprised if so and so's character does action X regarding your character. Remember these guys who have been walking around for centuries all probably either know each other somehow or are at least will ask what have you been doing in the last century...
