[@The Kid Lantern] Since amalgaming Ant-Man with The Atom is far too obvious, may I propose the idea of combining Ant-Man with Blue Beetle? It would work surprisingly well, the Scarab would simply come equipped with Ant-Man powers along with some of its usual weaponry. The working idea is for me to play as a version of Jaime Reyes that - like in the original universe - unwittingly became bonded with the Scarab. My plan is take a page from the New 52 and have Jaime unable to completely control the Scarab at first. However, he'll get help from an unexpected place: Dr. Hank Palmer, one of his college professors. Hank will also appear to know more about the Scarab than he lets on, eventually revealing that Jaime was not the first person the Scarab bonded to, the previous being a former student of Hank's (an amalgam of Scott Lang and Ted Kord) who is now deceased. Hank can also later reveal that he invented a belt that mimics the Scarab's power (as a way to tie in his Ray Palmer side) and that he used it to become The Atom, but at some point in the past vowed to never use it again for undisclosed reasons (hint: Haven't mentioned Janet yet, take a guess why).
