W.I.P.
Name of the Province: Serrath, Desert Province of Serrath(previouslyDesert Kingdom of Serrath) Name of your liege: High Priestess Salisthrielle Position: South Eastern part of the map, south of Andaluja and south east of Emperiat. Specialty: While Serrath may appear much like that of a graveyard to many travelers at first sight, its harsh weather leaving little room for proper agriculture, Serrath has an abundance of precious materials and gemstones buried deep within its mountains, which they harvest and sell to the other provinces as their main source of income. Their scholars, Temple Acolytes of Serr'Keth, are magical scholars who pursue their research with reckless abandon; carrying few notions of stigma or moral constraints that might plague scholars in other provinces. Their Grand Library is legend, said to hold secrets and texts written more than a thousand years ago in ancient tomes. Because of its relatively liberal view on magic, their capital is a mecca for mages and would-me-mages. History: "The first rule if you are going to travel to Serrath; don't travel to Serrath. However, if you absolutely must, then remember to stick to the roads, do not wander off into the desert, avoid any cursed ruins; and by the mercy of the Paragons, don't tell the locals you're from Emperiat! ... and don't mention the Paragons!" - Traveler's guide to Serrath The deserts of Serrath are a dark and treacherous place; consisting of endless deserts that stretch for as far as the eye can see; the whole province stuck in an eternal blood red eclipse that casts a haunting red hue across the moon like landscape. It is a province of long dead empires and civilizations buried beneath the sands, the desert littered with long lost ruins and ancient temples whose history has been forever lost. Its capital is the black city of Sethyr, located in the dead wastes of the southern deserts of Serrath, not far from the badlands; a massive temple from another time, built by the onyx rocks from Serrath's western mountains. The Desert Kingdoms of Serrath has always been the dark neighbor of Emperiat, a province shrouded in mystery and myth, and rarely visited by the northerners. However, the two had never interacted much; Serrath's people preferring to simply brood in their own desert cities. If it had not been for the gems and other precious metals that Serrath exported, Emperiat would not have cared for them at all. During the Emperiat expansion, its eyes were set on Serrath, but its king knew a military expansion into the endless deserts of Serrath would be wasteful and ultimately futile, and so instead; he set up a great blockade and coerced Serrath's neighbors to cease trade with the desert kingdom. With their lucrative gem and metal trade cut off, Serrath lost its main source of wealth, which sparked a brief war. Minor skirmishes broke out between the forces of Serrath and Emperiat, but they ceased quickly as the High Priestess of Serr'Keth agreed to integrate her province into Emperiat, in return for free access to the markets. However, aside from some changes to the official records, a name change from The Desert Kingdom of Serrath to the Desert Province of Serrath, and the addition of the Emperiat banner next to Serrath's own, little actually changed in the province. Though the war was brief and little blood was shed, it did nonetheless create a strong and growing resentment at the peoples of Emperiat for the forceful integration. This resentment is often the main suspect whenever outside travelers disappear in Serrath, and today; only adventurers, treasure seekers and other fools would travel into the desert wastes of Serrath.
