It could be a college orientation camp thing with the pizza delivery / bike messenger giving a late night snack at Grace's house the night they start work. I'm totally alright with them being coerced to be together by some academic [s]psycho[/s] teacher.

Maybe Gwyn is Grace's creepy Facebook stalker and Montgomery is her best friend, while sterling's character was here to deliver something and got caught in the mess.

Grace's heard of a Haunted house whereby they described the ghost to sound very similar to Kellan, so she through Sterling's character, she got supposed 'junior ghost hunters' Montgomery and Gwyn to check it out with her?
