Well fitting, hand-tailored suits fit the norm, along with a bowler hat or not-too-ostentatious stetson. Long sleeved, clean white shirts with sleeve garters are common, as well as a breathtaking selection of western period ties. If weather is inclement or formality warrants it, Foy is a huge fan of long, pinstriped coats with split tails. Foy sports a meticulously well groomed handlebar moustache with oiled tips. It is a thing which he dotes over, and is most proud of. He is a very clean and tidy man, insisting on being clean shaven and properly scaped at all times. Foy is generally polite, but rarely nice. There is a difference. Speak with him for more than ten minutes and you’ll understand. Maybe he is - until there is a deal to be made for his services. His eloquent speech and manner hide a truly mercenary individual, one who takes most any assignment that crosses his path and promises a payoff. He has scruples, mind you. There are lines he won’t cross, if only for reputation’s sake. The man is quite wealthy, independently so. He takes these contracts for the fun of it. Travel, intrigue, making new business contacts, and to feed a sense of personal pride. Socially, he is suited to hobnobbing with those of standing, even if the extreme higher-ups view him as something of a hireling. He is a talented merchant and Barber, well known and respected covers all around, but when it comes down to it, Foy is an unassuming Gun-For-Hire, pure and simple. He is adaptable to situations, in a manner of speaking, bottom line being survival. Otherwise, Foy is quite the son-of-a-bitch. Truly, it is inconsequential. The benefits of good, sound business dealings are what matter in the ‘Verse. It just so happens that The Alliance makes regular deals, and many a time pays up front. Browncoats, eh… Nothing personal, chum. Those people are mostly the poor, dirty kind of folk that don’t have a bankroll adequate to proper lifestyle expenses. The times they do, though... Turns out to be quite the adventure indeed! History: Foy Coiffeur was born in what he considers to be the only civilized part of Farraday in the Red Sun System. His family had already made their money through trade and political forays, giving him a head start in life as compared to most in the System. The family’s ancestral trade was to raise generations of Gentleman Barbers, a thing still taught out of tradition, lest they have to again work for a living. What he did with it later, though, was an act of mercantile brilliance. But before this, there was The Rise of Foy: As a youth, Foy wanted to stake it out on his own. He joined the local constabulary, taking basic training there, but no one took him too seriously on account of his foppish, dandy background. So he joined the Alliance Military. His parents were fearful for his life, what with the whole “Unification War” thing happening elsewhere in the ‘Verse, and used their considerable monetary influence to get him a commission as an officer. Foy knew it was favoritism, but didn’t care. It was his rightful standing to wear a peaked cap and order people from the safety of a large ship or core world. And the training he received: much better experience than tracking rustlers or settling drunks back home. He might have a Western Aristocrat appearance, but he was a competent Agent and talented combatant. When things got too monotonous, he Foy decided not to re-op his commission, leaving as a young officer with a trifle of a retirement package (for him, anyway). He returned to his native Farraday to take over the family business. Using his new contacts from his time in the military, Foy branched out the business into marketing and production of grooming/hygiene products, many with his face plastered on the label. The seat of the family business, “The Moustachery”, grew. But this too became monotonous. Asking around for a while, he began taking the odd contract that utilized his skills as an Agent, Constable, and Connected Man of Society. Even used his family background as cover for his more illicit activities. Sometimes, his old bosses in The Alliance would hire him to act on their behalf, either as a tracker, a hired gun, or someone to keep tabs on questionable personnel. His sense of style doesn’t hurt, either. " Foy and the Captain don’t speak much. The career officer seems to have an aversion to private contractors mingling with military types on an Alliance vessel. Until, of course, his services are required. Even then, they still don’t speak much.
☮/⚜/§ - Carla Lobo - §/⚜/☮ "My, my. Always a pleasure seeing Miss Carla. But her presence does raise inquiry." Foy knows Carla Lobo from back in his Agency days. They took similar training from similar sources, and were often paired together on assignments when the Alliance wanted something done in the most bizarre, effective, and humiliating manner possible. Things humorous, horrifying, and all parts between were perpetrated by the pair, as occasion called for it. Carla stayed with the Agency when Foy moved on; it is worth noting that the two of them no longer work for exactly the same people this go around - they might have different, even conflicting orders. For now, it’s almost like the good old days. Only time will tell if it remains that way.
☯ - Friedrich Knochengeiger - ☯ ”A most confusing gentleman. I daresay he would benefit from a glass of warm buttermilk and vigorous horizontal attentions.” The Retribution’s medical officer remains an enigma to the mercenary barber. Perhaps with a bit more chair time, Doc will loosen up enough to get a single, coherent conversation going. Until then, Foy will continue to do his job and let Friedrich do the same.
☯ - William Harper - ☯ "New fellow, eh? Central material, I presume?" Foy has just met this individual, and has not formed an opinion on the man as of yet.
- Foy Coiffeur - "My social stature is significant. I'm an important man. I have my own business. People envy me. Ooh... Not now!" Foy is convinced that he is a pinnacle of gentlemanly behavior. The class system exists for a reason, and his place is with the aristocracy, whether that means by birth, by politic, or by industry. Certain people lead, or at least administrate, and others labor for the betterment of society. Foy is Gentry. His manner, appearance, and bearing point to no other conclusion, whether he is cutting hair, running the business, or trading gunfire.
♫ - Jahosafat Moreau - ♫ "I daresay, nary a more perfect example of a gentleman to grace this ship. Born of the superior stock of Farraday Gentry; Just like me." Practically brothers in everything except for the details, Jahosafat and Foy grew up in the same place around the same people. Both are advocates of style as well as function, being as serious with their chosen professions as they are their heavily manicured appearances.
