Being no chemistry expert, she couldn't decide whether or not a bright light like that truly was possible. However, the kid in front of her looked absolutely terrified, causing her to harden her glare at the reporter. Maybe he thought it'd be funny, get some good photos for a front page spread out of it, scaring the kid witless. "We're going to go someplace quiet to talk," Jade stated coolly, her back turned to the fiasco with Scarlet, Samantha, and Dr. Barnes. The sound of repeated gunfire became more prominent, and her eyes widened a bit. "Is everyone in this bloody town off their rockers today?" Jade groaned, torn between protecting the kid, or going towards the gunfire. She glanced up at the sheriff. While he technically was her boss, she could hardly care about that right now. "Get them someplace safe, I'll handle it," she said, before dashing over towards the sound of gunfire. She paused slightly, pulling out her own pistol and undoing the safety. One woman held another high in the air, hardly faltering with each and every successive shot. She gulped, throwing an uneasy glance back at the group that she left. Had some of the bullets not hit Jamila in the head, she would have claimed body armor. "Fucking hell," Jade muttered, before leaping at Jamila, intending to knock her to the ground. A quick glance at the other woman's gun lead her to believe it was unlikely any rounds remained in it. But with the way things were going to do, she wouldn't be surprised if it magically loaded itself. The apocalypse really had begun.

Howard Brighton

Location: Town Center Interacting With: Joel Schroeder [@hagroden]

Howard nodded at Joel, chuckling a bit. He'd been expected to run into Dr. Schroeder at one point or another, along with some other experts in the field. He'd been preparing the shop a bit for it, putting the exotic pieces he can bear to front with more towards the front, designed to catch the eye. Instead of being flocked to by experts and colleagues, only a pint sized Satanist had visited him. Typical. "Understatement of the millennium, old chap," Howard replied, the smallest of smirks playing on his lips. He scowled a bit as the nurse began to bring several different pills over to him. Bugger. He wasn't stupid--had there been no infection, he wouldn't be given this assortment of meds. The nurse hardly waited for him, opening his mouth, and practically tossing them all inside. They'd ran out of little cups, forcing Howard to dry swallow. He practically gagged, shuddering at the awful taste of the pills. "Where's the bedside manner?" he asked, swallowing thickly, to attempt to rid himself of the taste. Instead, his hand was cleaned and bandaged, and he was roughly handed a prescription for rocephin, levophed, and fludrocortisone. Seeing the steroid written down, Howard raised an eyebrow. "What happened to you?" Howard inquired, flexing his hand experimentally. A twang of pain went through him, but he brushed it off. Professors were the few humans that he could tolerate. Perhaps for now, it wouldn't be ill advised to be in the company of another human. With gunfire punctuating their each and every word, with screams and anguished cries, the apocalypse did seem to be a reality. "If you would like, I have a collection you may be interested in perusing," Howard offered, his lip curling slightly. It took everything he had not to spit at everyone around him and run as quickly as he could, back to his tiny cave. Novels and human thought? Beautiful. Actual people? Ghastly, hideous beasts.

Dr. Chase Barnes & Jamila

Location: Town Center Interacting With: Scarlet [@Sohtem], Samantha [@Nallore], Jade

All but one of Scarlet's bullets struck Jamila. With each impact, Jamila remained a stone wall. The bullets sailed at her, imbedding themselves in her skin, ripping apart her clothing. And yet, she remained motionless. Stonewall Jackson would have been jealous. Jamila smiled slightly at Scarlet, as the gun emptied, and she flexed her fingers slightly around Scarlet's throat. "I don't understand what you mean, playing rough?" Jamila quipped. She tilted her head, hardly noticing as a black blur collided into her, knocking her to the ground. Consequently, Scarlet was released from her grasp. Jamila punched at Jade, knocking the detective off of her. Slowly, she scrambled her way to her feet, glancing at the detective and the CIA agent. "You can't fight me and survive," Jamila warned. Meanwhile, Chase yelped, as Samantha collided into him. Tripping backwards, he caught himself by some stroke of luck, but the box fell to the ground. From the impact, the lid fell off, revealing its horrific contents. Chase swore, diving after the contents - Jamila's heart. "Stop it, you bitch!" Chase screamed, glaring daggers at Samantha. "You're ruining everything!"
