Wow. I'm wounded." Female

☩ ☩ ☩ ☩
background "Is this some kind of interview? Are there hidden cameras set up waiting for me to burst into tears?" Astrid has always been a spirited girl, never following the rules in and out of school from the moment she could walk. Her intelligence kept her from being expelled, however, but that didn't stop her parents from becoming exasperated with her rebellious antics. Her parents, surprisingly, were a relatively normal middle-class couple, living in a small house in the outskirts of London. It was as much of a surprise to them as their second child popped out as a screaming bundle of anger- a stark comparison to her brother, two years older than her and a golden child. Astrid had a tricky relationship with her parents, her mother in particular, as she grew up. Her brother, Michael, would be the peacekeeper in the house, but that couldn't put a stop to her doing whatever she could to annoy their parents. This included starting to play the violin- which shocked everybody; to see such a restless girl play an instrument linked with such tranquility. She would spend hours screeching out tunes on the instrument, much to the despair of her family, until she would master piece after piece; each one increasing in difficulty and complexity. By the end of high school, she was still hanging around with the 'wrong people', doing reckless things, smoking cigarettes, going to parties and making bad choices. Astrid was kicked out of the house the minute she was old enough; and, despite her parent's reassurances that they still loved her, contact between her and her family gradually faded away to only one person- Michael, her brother. The two made sure to text and call each other at least weekly, updating eachother on their lives and being there to rant and rave about whatever had upset them recently. While Michael was travelling the world, his success rising alongside his fame, Astrid stayed in London, sharing a small flat with a few of her friends, partying throughout the night and busking on the streets with her violin during the day. It wasn't a great life, and she was used to going without luxuries, but she was happy. At least, she tells herself she is. personality Reckless ☩ Witty ☩ Passionate ☩ Guarded Astrid is the classic bad girl that good girls are warned not to be friends with. She is narcissistic, blunt and some would say just plain rude upon first encounter. She makes the point very clear that she doesn't care what people think about her, especially when it comes to first impressions. In reality, she actually has a methodical series of walls she has built around herself to keep people out. It is easy to say that she is damaged, what with her careless attitude towards her own safety and her yearning for attention. Her humour is something that she tends to use to deflect empathy. If someone is trying to understand her, she will more than likely shoot a few witty insults at them as a warning to back off, yet another aspect of herself that she has moulded into defence. She has certainly deserved the nickname 'Queen of Sarcasm', that's for sure, never being far from making a cheeky comment or two on current situations. Although some see the funny side, she doesn't really have a limit to her jests, and remarks like those seem to just roll off her tongue of their own accord. She's pretty cocky when she wants to be, which often leads people to believe she is big-headed and selfish, which couldn't be further away from the truth. Underneath all of the anger at the world and the defensiveness, Astrid is deeply, deeply unstable. She is not the maniacal unstable that so many would at first believe about her, she's far more self-depreciating, untrusting and sensitive than that. Behind that expertly-placed mask, she overthinks every word said, blames every tiny mistake on herself, and believes the only way she can stop herself from hurting others is if she pushes them away. She thinks that her unwavering loyalty and fierce love is the most vulnerable part of her, when, in actual fact, it is the the strongest. This delicate aspect to her is very hard to find; it is the one part of herself that she doesn't dare to show off, or exaggerate. The time when this side of her is most dominant, and easiest to locate, is when she is playing her violin. She sees it as an extension of her soul; the way she communicates her true feelings is through the instrument, and she views it as the most precious part of her life. She has always been attracted to the people that burn bright and harshly, leaving nothing but destruction in their wake. She's had her fair share of abusive relationships, that's for sure, but she still can't seem to understand that she deserves better. What she needs is completely different, however, and -deep down- she knows this. She needs someone that can soften her harsh edges, placate her occasional madness and bring out the more sensitive, romantic side of her. reason for joining show "I'm regretting this already." After joking around about it with her friends, she was dared to apply. Of course, being Astrid, she did. When she received news of her acceptance, she became the laughing stock of her 'gang', but they soon realised what it really meant and ended up encouraging her to go. Reluctantly, she finally agreed to take part, without bothering to let her family know- excluding her brother, of course. other "You must know enough by now." - Speaks with a British accent - Only smokes when stressed, or when trying to prove a point. - Has her belly button, ears, and cartilage pierced.
