[@Gowi] In regards to your last message: His name: I am not familiar with the naming conventions of this world, but I was under the impression that real-world mythology wasn't around. I chose the name because of its phonetics as opposed to the link to mythology, so is that link the problem or is the name itself too fanciful? Magic: Entirely self-taught, he used old text books and writings he had found in various libraries to slowly build his basic capabilities. Experience-wise, it took him 6 months to learn what a magic tutor could teach in a week. I am curious about your idea though, so i'd like to hear it. Age: I chose 19 to fit with Sterling's character, Nikalai, as her older brother, but now that she is no longer being used I can adjust his age to being 17 to fit with the other new students. God/s: I was trying to write more IC, sorry for the confusion. As I said, he doesn't care about religion, so he doesn't care if it's one god or twenty. Also, I am writing in the British dialect, so 'travelled' and 'realises' aren't errors.
Ah yes, I should’ve been clearer about conventions— but the zkreli are defined as sort of a simplistic warrior culture so it’s a matter of fanciful syntax I suppose. Prometheus would work for a forloni (and maybe tromani and hulevi) but I don’t see much of anyone else using it as a choice for a given name. I’m trying to think what libraries would be available in that utility. You have to understand that written magic in human language is only nineteen years old and the majority of books written by Mathis Thornwell (and possibly his son) are mostly in Forlonia and The Imperial Heartlands if not completely so. Thus unless you traveled to Forlonia's Thornwell's Hand or The Heartland's The Conclave I struggle with where he could've read such things. As for the idea— it falls back to your enemies the orcs who are a shamanistic people originally who can convene with nature and the elements; although very rare there are many orcish temples to this day and it has been only within the last century that the orcs have embraced unholy/accursed magics. The idea in that essence is a captured orc who sits in the prisons unconventionally so awaiting for an execution. He would be likely a shamanistic monk-type orc character who perhaps the more cerebral Prometheus sympathized with. This orc prisoner would go by a “honor through life and actions” philosophy rather than the more bloodthirsty majority of his race. Despite not having orcish blood he could explain principles of his magic and being smart perhaps it could’ve helped Prometheus discover the basic principle of the arcane stream on his own. Additionally:
You may also have the option (if you want to) to have been at The Conclave prior to the RP start so that you are already a dedicated student.
Also, what do you mean no longer being used? This is the first time I've heard of it? Why didn’t she tell me she was dropping interest subsequently? Did I say something mean? D: Ah, I was only picking up on what my spellchecking software noticed. Fair enough. You can be coloured all you want. ;)
