Katherine Argall
‘Ah… Did he catch all that?’ She inwardly groaned. With Crash’s question just before they entered the ballroom, she knew that her strange actions were not nearly as invisible as she had hoped they were. Stepping inside, they were instantly greeted with loud music and social chatter. Kathy had started to scan the crowd for any other familiar faces, but a light touch on her hand made her look up at Crash again. She had momentarily wondered if it was a sign to hold his hand… Until she saw the shapeshifter fiddle around with his attire. ‘Too bad it was just an accident… Though more importantly, is he feeling self-conscious about his eye?’ The smile did little to reassure her that he was fine, and really it ended up having the reverse of the intended effect. Frowning, she tried to recall if Crash had been this nervous at the previous party but her memory failed her. She opened her mouth to say something that would, ideally, lift his spirits again only to find her head blanking out as he leaned over to speak to her. Plus, she’d lost the timing now that he asked her a question. “I…” Kathy hesitated to answer. On one hand, she did want to greet Ryuu and Criston. It had been far too long since she had last seen them, and they were people she had dearly missed. However… She had missed Crash most of all. It did make her feel guilty at times to have such favouritism for one individual, but it was an undeniable fact that she had longed to see him more than anyone else. Running her fingers through her hair, she tried to weight the pros and cons of the two choices in front of her. “It’s been a while for me as well.” Putting a smile back on her face she continued, “Let’s just go for a quick greeting. And then we can… Dance?” Apparently she was a lot greedier than people gave her credit for; she wanted the best of both choices. Lifting the hand closer to Crash, Kathy gently placed her fingers over his wrist before sliding down to actually clasp his hand in hers. Tip-toeing slightly she whispered right next to his ear, “You can pull your hand back if you’d like, but I’d be greatly offended.” It had been quite a smooth delivery and execution on her part… But as soon as she took a step away, a fierce red blush was quickly spreading from her cheeks all the way to the tips of her ears. Pretending that she couldn’t feel her face burning up, she pointed in the direction she had seen Crash facing last. “This way?” Unless he decided to interrupt with a different plan, she led the way through the crowd towards where Ryuu and Criston supposedly were. She purposely avoided the centre of the room where it was the most crowded, taking a round-about way to them with her hand still holding onto Crash’s if he allowed her to.
