If Luke did get better though, I can't see him being too happy. After all, you've been ill for ages, you finally recover and your parents are letting you go on a journey and "Whoops, sorry, your best friend took the place you've wanted your whole life and she's gone off on an adventure without you even though you both agreed to go together!"

Now that I think about it, Abigail's kind of an asshole in this situation.
