Posting Frequency For Partner: I prefer my partner post once a day, but I am a flexible partner and will (potentially) wait one - two weeks per reply. Also, as I stated above, when the school semester starts, I may not be able to post every day, and I cannot ethically (or manipulatively) expect someone to do the same. About you: I am more outgoing on this site than I am offline. (Oh, so shocking!) I have a habit of swooning over the other player's post before even attempting a reply. If a player gets me drunk enough on his or her literary skills, I may even tell him or her. With that said, I usually take over an hour to articulately type-out a post. Russian love novels make me blush, and my room is full of them. I think stickers and stuffed animals are a necessary investment. My socks enjoy interracial relationships, and therefore, they rarely ever match. I have had an obsession with Snorlax ever since playing Pokemon Y. I forcibly make room in my not-so-busy schedule for tea parties. And, on a darker note: Seven years ago, I was diagnosed with a terribly unpopular mental disorder that renders me depressingly useless from time-to-time. I try to be up front when I need a break to give my brain a chance to recuperate. Fear not, however, I most certainly have not forgotten about any Role Plays and will most certainly be interested in continuing where we stopped (if the interest of the other player is still invested, of course). Looking For: I just enjoy Role Playing, but if I was to have my choice, I would choose a friendly and collaborative partner who intoxicates me with his or her literary skills. OOC Chatter: I enjoy conversing out of character. I often think the Role Play becomes much more enjoyable when off-handed comments, responses, and reactions are expressed freely amongst the players involved. Unfortunately, I am an introvert and have a hard time initiating conversations. Plotting: I think plotting (if nothing else) a vague outline is generally a wonderful idea when breathing life into a new Role Play. However, I am adventurous and do not mind entering a Role Play with the bare-minimum. 18+ or 18-: 18+ Mature Content: I am flexible when it comes to adult themes. Preferred Gender: I have no preference. Preferred Gender For Partner: I have no preference. I do not Role Play F x F Romance, however. Character Limit: I can play a maximum of three protagonists. If I play anymore, I will just become confused and the complexity of the personalities and subtle differences will stop being so noticeable. NPCs: I love non-player characters. I even enjoy giving them their own backstory. Medium: Private Messages What You Want: Romance (preferably) or something that is psychologically stimulating. What You Don't Want: The typical Role Play rules of: No Mary-Sues, no Gary-Sues, and no Godmoding. I do not accept one-liners. I do not enjoy reading characters acting out of character, nor do I enjoy reading characters who break the laws of the particular world in which the Role Play takes place without a specific reason. I will let the latter two situations slide because I have a doormat personality that just wants to Role Play, but I would prefer to avoid it if I may. Roleplay Interests: • Romance • Slice-of-Life • Fantasy • Anything interesting, I just enjoy escaping reality • No Psyche Wards (exceptions are made depending on my mood) Pairings: • M x M - Anything interesting • M x F -Anything interesting • No Student x Teacher/Professor related Fandoms: • I do not Role Play Fandoms. Preferred Length: My posts range from 2,500 characters - 9,000 characters. My introductions are roughly 6,000 characters, and depending on what is given to me, my posts fluctuate from that length. I do not accept one-liners, and I prefer to uphold a two paragraph minimum from my partner. Writing Sample:
The demon’s gentle voice floated carefully through the air and settled itself tenderly inside the breaking confines of the boy’s flourishing imagination. The sound had turned itself into an innocent glass dove, spreading its wings around the decaying monster that every human soul learns to mask one way or another, and the quiet coos were delicately nudging it to recover from its constant abuse the boy had been harnessing over it. Perhaps, it was the intoxicating misjudgment of the impossible and immature hunger climbing mindlessly through his thoughts that lead him to see the words press from her lips as soft petals would drift during the winds of spring… The suspended humanity was losing to the worldly battle of spiritual warfare as the threads thickened and strengthened their weave into the dark temptations of the mistaken otherworldly affairs. The irresistible desire trembling in his heart only increased as her subtle persistence escaped timelessly from the parting of her pastel lips. There was no real question of how much control his being ever had over his own nous, a deprived variation of sorts that never received proper nourishment from its owner. The thirst for immortality was graciously and falsely quenched by accepting the beautifully adorned damnation. The unrecognizable disguise had been politely served in silver (no less) and was much too precious and unique to push away from his own starving body—so easily corruptible to the decay of sin. And now, he was yearning for the next invitation being presented to him by the demon: the dollish figure of his fallen kin. The fantasmic void unraveling and shifting in variation to the movements of the life and death around them seemed more like a fairytale that had captured the juvenile side of spoiled needy enchantment as a lackluster breeze of soft iridescent voices pulled the two inward and pressed cooly against her lucid skin, and her own fingers grasped gently upon by her bare flesh. Such was the motion that James allowed himself to reach out to her, running his own hand down her soft, chilled skin and intertwining his fingers with the demon’s delicate craftsmanship. The tightness of his grasp—replicating the words she had spoken—as his childish nerves of coy rebellion tugged a much repressed expression of playful wonderment on his face. If such shyness had not been so greatly developed between them at a young age, only to be worn in the faux friendship often endured between them as outwardly normal siblings, the awakening beast--so shackled by persistent embarrassment-- may have urged impatiently for something more desperate, but for now, it was but a fearful kitten unable to be taken seriously on any account. His muscles flexed lightly, tugging her forward with his arm and the cautious movements of his feet as they wandered into the abysmal threads stretching further through the secret realm opening it’s gates. His hazel eyes turned back to study the sweet smile placed so politely on her demure lips. The very nature of the corrupt demon lurking beneath her had escaped his worries; hints had eluded him, lost in the tender mercy of being able to touch his palm against hers once again, “Let’s go,” The two words left his mouth--not harshly, this time, but enduringly. Turning around to face the world he was leaving behind had long since been a temptation quickly devoured by the aesthetic pleasure taunting his vision and wild fantasies from the undiscovered world ahead of them. The rose’s scent was so alluring; and it's petals so soft as silk; but its thorns had yet to be discovered.
M x M: A teenage boy, who is struggling with desires for his sister, mistakenly summons an uncontrollable demon in a vain attempt to alleviate his mental misery of forbidden love. As one thing leads to another, the demon, non-secretively disguised as the boy’s sister, leads him into the shadows of the underworld. Posting Frequceny: If the RP is pretty strong then I'll definitely make sure to post once a day, and if its going super well, I'll probably try to post within the hour. It does honestly depend on how things are fairing overall. Posting Frequency For Partner: Once a week would be just fine, a little more often of course would be awesome, but I don't like to see multiple days between posts. The longer it is between posts, the more likely I'll end up losing my general flow for the RP, and that won't be good at all. About you: Nothing specific that people need to know, honestly. It comes down to whatever you want to know. Looking For: Well... someone to write stuff with. OOC Chatter: Not strictly mandatory at all, but its always very nice to have, and hey friendship is pretty neat. Plotting: Also not mandatory, but at least a rough story plan will do wonders in keeping things on track. As fun as aimless wandering around can be, I do thing there should be a vague end goal. 8+ 1or 18-: Yes, I'm over 18. Mature Content: Any mature content is perfectly fine with me, hell I'm absolutely down to write it, but it also isn't required by any means. Preferred Gender: Either gender is good by me, but over the last year I have been favoring female characters a lot more heavily. Preferred Gender For Partner: Nope, however if there is romantic intent involved I'm not a fan of MxM coupling, but any other combination is fine. Character Limit: Yes, I almost always prefer to keep one main character and that's it. NPCs: Don't mind them at all, and I'll be more than willing to carry any NPC workload. Medium: Threads and PMs are it, just I normally expect PMs as I find them to be the norm. What You Want: Not much really, honestly I'm just in this to have as a pastime and write some stories. Now, I suppose the one thing I always like to have is at least a little element of romance. You Don't Want: I'm very open minded to anything, but if its something particularly taboo then that will probably come down to an individual level. Roleplay Interests: Generally anything I'm game for so listing out genres seems pretty pointless, but there are a few I do tend to lean towards. -Sci-fi -Medieval Fantasy. -Modern Pairings: I don't look for general pairings, I find they are way too vague to have a decent starting point for RPs. Fandoms: I also tend not to do fandom stuff, but I'm also willing to do them anyway if we're only talking about original characters. I'll list the fandoms that I'm particularly knowledgeable. -Mass Effect. -Elder Scrolls. -Fallout Preferred Length: Dunno, this doesn't really concern me. Get two strong paragraphs out and that's all I ask for. I've always thought of myself to be at a casual level, but I'll probably be able to swing advanced stuff just fine. Writing Sample:
Haruna Nakano awoke with a start, and while that was completely normal the conditions were anything but. The girl pushed herself up from the heavily littered floor, her head was pounding something fierce, what's worse she didn't know why. She most certainly got enough sleep last night and there was no reason why she was hurting. It was then she noticed the shattered mirror, if nothing else that provided some clues on what possibly could've happened, did she smack her head into it? She stood up to take a closer look... it was odd there weren't any glass shards, not even scattered across the floor, which boded well for her seeing as she was just sprawled across it. Haruna sighed and shook her head, it was way too early to start using her brain so instead she opted just not to worry about it for now. Curiously she was already dressed for school, uniform and even that light coat she usually wore. While it wouldn't be a first time, she swore she changed out of them. With a yawn she starting looking for her phone on a cluttered side table, she really need to clean this room up; a lot of things had been going missing. Fortunately her phone wasn't on this list of missing items as she found it without too much searching. Turned out she was running late at 8:21, good thing she was already prepared to go. Haruna left her home in a hurry, by then both of her parents should already be gone, besides they don't typically get involved in her business anyway. It didn't take long until she started to notice the... unsettling atmosphere of her street. It wasn't so much to do with the stormy sky, that was completely normal to her, but of course it was the lack of people. No matter what there should have been at least someone walking the streets, especially at that time of day, it was like a scene from a horror movie with how desolate it felt. Just what was going on? Between her vaporized mirror and the abandoned road, her day was shaping up to be something else. Haruna looked up when she heard the sound of footsteps. She strained to listen, it was definitely someone running, the clatter of shoes hitting asphalt was unmistakable. The girl stopped in stunned silence, right in front of her was a boy, while she found the source of the sound she also unfortunately found the reason for it. Chasing the guy was a woman, but not just any old human. She looked like some weird anthropomorphized cat with vicious claws to boot, if that didn't scream danger Haruna didn't know what would. The girl had no idea what to do, was this boy even in actual danger, or was this a performance piece? Perhaps by itself sure, but on top of everything else she just instinctively knew that the world wasn't the same anymore. Haruna made her mind up; to turn around and run, because nothing about this was normal. Not at all. Yet, as the Knight Captain of the Duchess of Toussaint(a mouthful of a title), he had to attend them on occasion not only to spur the rest of the guard through their exercises, but to let Toussaint's Royal guard know that he wasn't an assimilated court politician. In the past, there had been a stigma on the position that aggravated him greatly, one that even his predecessor had not been able to shake. Damian had warned him about how he would be perceived by his men. He could hear the words bouncing through his skull now as he passed the dimly lit lanterns of the Cockatrice inn: "Volgorl, things will not be the same! You will be considered beneath the politicians whom you are sworn to protect, yet those in your command will look at you as one of the politicians! Confusing, isn't it? But that's what comes with the post." He snorted a laugh at the recollection. Damian had been drinking a bit too heavily that night, but what had he to lose? He was retiring, getting a fat pension from the Duchy and would finally be able to relax those bloody shoulders of his. Never once did Vol see his former commander's shoulders relax. They were always taut, rigid. He didn't understand that until he received the position himself. With so much on the line at seemingly EVERY instant, Vol hadn't the slightest idea how to relax, even when he wasn't protecting the Duchess or other royalty that happened to be with her. A mischievous smirk came cross his face. Other royalty, indeed. His horse suddenly slowed from it's triumphant gallop to a simpering trot, the beast snorting, neighing and making a gigantic commotion on the starlit path. "Come! Almost home, almost ho-" His horse raised it's front legs, the knight captain's relaxed grip on the reigns costing him his seat on the saddle, flying onto his back. Grunting with effort, he raised himself, dusting off his chocolate colored trousers. "We're going to have a talk when we ge-" Hissing. His right hand gripped the handle of his blade, sliding it out of the scabbard just enough so the widest part of the blade glittered in the pale light of the moon. Suddenly he became painfully aware of the noisy chainmail covering the leather chestpiece he wore, the clinking of his studded gloves. More hissing. Coming from all around him on the empty path. Drawing his sword fully, he proclaimed: "Show yourselves! You might receive a bit of mercy for surrendering now instead of paying with your lives!" The threats didn't deter the hissing, which came closer. From the northwest corner of the path came a beast...then another. He had seen these before: wide bodies with spider-like legs, sharp protrusions coming out of each appendage. Kikimores. His horse had ran off, allowing him to survey his attackers. There were five of them, converging on his location. It was true that Vol had strength on his side with his burly frame and sword skills, but not even one of his might and experience could tackle FIVE of these creatures without any assistance. "A first time for everything." He muttered to himself as a Kikimore lunged at him with a poisoned limb, the knight captain dodging right and slicing vertically, chopping off an appendage. This seemed to enrage the others, who were now sprinting towards him. Posting Frequency: Easing back in with once a week, but frequency can increase with high interest in a roleplay. Posting Frequency For Partner: Not terribly strict on this, once a week is fine. About you: The most important thing a partner needs to know about me is that interaction is far and away the best way to keep me interested in a story. I have had very passive partners in the past that were all too happy to let me direct the story and it can fry my muse and kill it very early on, so having a partner who is more than willing to reach out to me with ideas and recommendations is invaluable. If you're enjoying the roleplay please let me know, and the same goes if you are not. I don't take personal offense and welcome constructive criticism. But most importantly, if I am quiet for awhile or take a long time getting back to you with a response either in the roleplay or via messages then please do not take it personally or assume I've lost interest. I have struggled a long time with depression and it comes and goes, often sapping all my creative energy in the process, so sometimes I will completely forget to check RPG. This is my main reason for advocating the use of messengers outside RPG, so that I can be reached via apps on my phone even if I'm not immediately available to log into the website. Looking For: Someone willing to take some kind of direction in writing the story. I love the collaborative effort of plotting and having a plan but don't be afraid to throw a curveball my way. I also have a tendency to over-analyze and get carried away with directing the story so having a partner who isn't afraid to call me out on that is a plus. My ideal partner is someone willing to put up with me constantly asking questions and running ideas by them. I also highly favor long-term storytelling, so getting to know my partner and vice versa will likely come with that territory. OOC Chatter: Yes please! I would like to say it isn't mandatory so that any potential partners aren't scared away, however, it's goes a very long way in helping me keep interest in the story and keep to a regular posting schedule. In the past silence from my partner has often led me to lose interest or forget about the roleplay altogether when engaged in several ongoing roleplays with more talkative partners. I do prefer that offsite messengers be utilized if at all possible, for a more direct line of communication, but it isn't absolutely necessary. Plotting: Plotting is definitely mandatory. I need a clear outline of objectives or goals to be able to write my best, as driving blind tends to quash my muse. 18+ or 18-: 26, to be exact. Mature Content: Yes, I tend toward storytelling that often includes a variety of dark and adult themes and don't like to sugarcoat or fade to black as it takes me out of the story. However, I am very open and flexible in this regard and will happily discuss an agreeable comfort level with my partner before proceeding in any such fashion. Preferred Gender: I prefer to play heterosexual females as my main, though am very open to introducing supporting characters of varying genders and sexualities as the story progresses. Preferred Gender For Partner: I'd like a partner comfortable playing male characters as their main, but also willing to incorporate supporting characters of varying genders if need be. Character Limit: I typically begin the roleplay with one main character and maybe a couple of supporting characters, and if the roleplay carries on for a time I will sometimes introduce a secondary main character if it is fitting for the story. NPCs: I'm fine with them, I like including exterior characters for a more rounded story so our main characters don't feel completely isolated. Medium: I can carry on roleplays through PM, e-mail, and Google Docs. Threads on this site are difficult for me to keep tabs on, so the more direct method is best for me. What You Want: Assertive and aggressive characters, a balance of grit and lighthearted fun, a sense of humor, complexity, passion, elements of danger and intrigue. Romance is often an integral element in my stories, but I don't like it to be the defining theme. Fluff is not unwelcome but should be used sparingly. I love to explore gray morals and ulterior motives. Imperfect characters are my favorite - don't just toss a good-looking, angsty character in the mix, give them an unforgivable secret or questionable motives. What You Don't Want: No furries, anthros, anime, boring ol' slice of life. I'm not terribly into fandom/canon roleplay (with the exception of select comics) but may be open to roleplaying within the universe of a given fandom, if it's one I'm familiar with. Roleplay Interests:

Just about anything supernatural/urban fantasy (magic, witches, vampires, werewolves, fae, demons, etc.)
Loosely-based historical/period settings, primarily of the dark, Gothic Victorian era (ala Penny Dreadful or Crimson Peak).
Open to suggestions
Pairings:

Vampire x newly/accidentally sired*
Witch* x anything
Talia al Ghul* x anyone [DCU] Key: * = preferred role
Fandoms:

DC Comics/Vertigo/select Marvel titles - my most expansive knowledge is in the Batman universe but I know my way around the others as well. I don't really watch the comic-based television shows (with the exception of Lucifer) but have seen most of the DCCU and MCU films. You will win my heart forever if you have any interest whatsoever in playing against my characterization of Talia al Ghul.
Been watching The Vampire Diaries/The Originals so might be interested is doing something within that universe.
If you've ever seen the UK TV show Hex then I'd be really interested in exploring something along those lines. To that end she quirked a brow, the shadow of a bemused smirk tugging at the corners of her lips as she assessed just what kind of person this stranger was. Clearly not a seasoned sleuth, or at least not one anywhere near capable of standing against the League. And yet, by the looks of the video feed in front of her he didn't appear to be a particularly ferocious individual, so what did he plan to accomplish in this exchange? She would even go so far as to assume that he knew nothing of the League or the danger of inadvertently putting himself in her crosshairs. "Indeed." she replied softly, "Fortunately for you, I have more pressing matters to attend to and I'm feeling unusually....charitable. It would be in your best interest to forget this exchange and lose this number. I will forgive this transgression and we may both go on about our lives without incident. However, if you refuse and allow your curiosity to get the better of you then you will be putting your own safety in jeopardy." The exchange was interrupted abruptly, as another window appeared on the holographic screen. It was a live feed of the security cameras within the facility where guards were lying unconscious, with it came a tone on the line indicating an incoming call. Talia's eyes narrowed as she examined the new feed, her teeth set on edge. Speaking to Anton once more her tone remained level despite the newfound complications, "The choice is yours, Mr. Bolton, so choose wisely." With that she terminated the call and switched over to the incoming alert, "Mistress, security has been compromised, we have an intruder." Talia's demeanor shifted to that of a much more tactical nature, her fingers flying across the control panel to bring up the extensive security features of the compound, "How many casualties so far? Number of assailants?" "No kills. We found remnants of grappling wire and Visce caught sight of one of them. He was able to issue a warning but was found unconscious by the time we responded. The flesh on his hands was singed. Our security feed was compromised by an outside source, but when we received notice of a sighting we reset them manually." She turned the clues around in her mind as she assessed the signatures of varying enemies. Guards left unconscious seemed a highly unlikely tactic for a great majority of the League's enemies. Most who sought to attack the League had no qualms about killing. Grappling wire and the use of non-lethal weaponry were undoubtedly familiar signatures, especially considering the particular city they were in. However, Talia could only think of perhaps a handful of individuals with the skills and training necessary to even attempt infiltrating a League facility. None of which possessed anything akin to an army. That narrowed down the list of potential intruders exponentially. It wasn't Bruce, so that only left one option. As if on cue the facility map on Talia's holographic screen began indicating detection on the motion sensors in the ventilation system. Zooming in, she pinpointed the intruder's route, "Our prowler is in Sector Four, moving toward the elevator." "Send in reinforcements?" "Only a handful, the calvary isn't necessary." She terminated the connection and powered down the controls before making her way out of her office to intercept her uninvited guest. In Sector Four the air was crackling with tension as Nightwing stood surrounded by a handful of assassins, all of them waiting for the command to descend upon the interloper. The sudden ring of the elevator bell sounded and interrupted the heavy quiet, the doors opening to reveal Talia al Ghul, Daughter of the Demon, Mistress of the League of Assassins. Viridescent eyes sparkled with an impeccable intensity as they met his crisp sapphire gaze. She stepped forward, her voice calm as she issued her command to the waiting guards, "Stand down." The assassins eased and lowered their weapons, but still remained at the ready should he make any sudden movements. Continuing her approach she moved toward Nightwing and only halted when she stood but an arm's length from him, "I can't say this is an entirely unexpected visit, if somewhat invasive. I would have gladly entertained a call if it meant sparing several of my men." A small, dismissive wave of her hand, "But nevermind that, I have quite a few things to speak with you about." She paused only long enough to pass a glance around the room, "Though perhaps this is a discussion better suited to the privacy of my office." Moving back to the elevator as the doors opened, she glanced back toward him and arched a brow, "Well?"

Username: mamagermany Interest Check: NA Timezone: EST Availability: Currently available virtually all waking hours, for now Posting Frequency: Likely multiple times a day. Writing Sample: A lone human scrambled across the ravaged landscape of Gliese 581 c. She ran towards the ship she had downed, a behemoth she’d find over the ridge, when she could no longer see the city she fled. Far behind her, tucked into the red crumbling cliffs, someone realized they’d let their guard down. “Where’s Shae?” Alexandru burst through the meeting room doors, eyes wide with panic. Europa turned to him sharply, while America jumped to his feet, knocking the table. Alexandru didn’t care about him. He scanned the room, completely in vain. Where is she? Europa, calm, collected Europa, gaped at him. "You let her leave?“ They have no idea, he noted with a sinking finality. "No, of course I didn’t let her leave,” he snapped, glaring at Europa. The past few days had finally begun to fry his nerves and chip away at his patience. "Since when does she ask permission?“ “Would she be in the city?” America asked no one in particular, wringing his hands into his hair. He couldn’t have sounded less convinced in just asking it. He wasn’t fooling himself at all. “Of course not. Why would she slip away like this if it was to stick around?” “Did she take a craft?” “I haven’t heard anyone say that one left-” “Then where the hell does she have to go?” “Maybe she’s going to Ya Shi,” Europa suggested. "Asia has Keira and Skylar, remember? Shae was dying to hear more about those Earth weapons.“ “But then why would she not have taken a craft or something?” America pointed out. "No one would survive that trip on foot.“ “I don’t know-” Alexandru waved at both of them. "No, no, that’s not it,“ he insisted, getting more icy tendrils of dread. "She’s going for that shipwreck over the ridge.” There were weapons on board. Shae knew how to pilot it. And she could use it to get off the surface. It had to take a moment to sink in. “She can’t leave Gliese,” Europa murmured, more to herself than to them, rising from the table and skirting around America. She glided to the window, staring at the fluorescent lights lacing the top of the dome. “It’s like we have to have her on suicide watch,” America muttered, yanking a protective jacket off a hook on the wall. All the while sending a few glares to Alexandru. The lights… Europa’s dark eyes widened. She snapped around to seek out a clock on the wall. Oh no… “That little sneak,” she hissed. "The lights will go out any minute. She planned this!“ Shae would. Shae would. Danie pushed through the door, not skipping a beat. She couldn’t find her around either. "What are you all doing?” she asked, pulling on a protective jacket. America almost pushed his sister aside, storming up to the door. "Your friend has lost her mind. And her boyfriend there-“ he pointed accusingly at Alexandru - "didn’t keep an eye on her!” Alexandru bristled. "Are you saying?-“ "I don’t think she’s lost her mind,” Danie interrupted quietly, moving between them. The coolness of her tone brought America down a bit, but her words chilled them both for another reason. "I think she knows exactly what she’s doing.“ Europa lowered her eyes. "That’s worse.” Danie glared at all of them, standing around the room in various states of anxiety. “We need to go now,” she ordered, zipping her jacket. Their craft waved a tail of dust as they crossed the desert before them. From Urbem Europa, the closest ridge just managed to hide the sight of the shipwreck. But once atop the ridge, the skids of the ship tore an ugly scar across the sands. There was no smaller craft near it. Just torn hulls of metal from the impact, creating unnatural sculptures like tendrils growing from the barren ground. Europa disembarked from their small craft first, taking in all the details. The emergency doors on the side had been forced open, and the wind was sweeping piles of dust into the corridor. It already looked soulless, like it’d be abandoned for decades. But it could come to life any minute. They didn’t have much time. The others were behind her in moments. Alexandru and Danie were already striding in front of her, talking among themselves. “Where in there would she be,” he asked her. Danie surveyed the ship herself. "She would have maybe gone for the engine room or the loading bay,“ she pointed out, near the back of the ship, "or the main controls,” to the front. “She’s getting harder to predict,” she mused. “Europa, America,” Danie called back to the two still hanging back. They were both huddled with uncertainty. For once, they were out of their element. “You two, go to the engine room. If you find her, the closer you can get to her, the better. You could take her down in close proximity.” “Well, I knew that,” Europa muttered. “Alexandru, go to the loading bay. I’m going to the main controls.” Her orders given, Danie strode into the ship and became someone else. She completely melted away into the shadows. Alexandru wasn’t far behind her, though he had to glare at Europa and America to move their asses. "I can bring you partway there,“ he promised. The siblings exchanged glances Alexandru couldn’t discern under their helmets, but they followed him in anyway. Ledges just below the ceilings spilled red light into the inner hallways. Small white lights illuminated the sides of the corridor along the floor. The metal walls felt small and crushing compared to the outside. Europa started feeling dizzy quickly. She’d never seen Alexandru in soldier mode. He was quiet - quieter than she’d ever think him capable of being - and careful, slow and crouching close to the floor. She could barely hear him move. Compared to him, she felt clumsy, and America, always bumping into her, seemed loud and was taking up too much space. "The engine room is that way,” he eventually said to them, pointing them down a separate hallway. Through the helmets, Europa could make out just enough of his face. He looked tortured. "Be careful,“ he whispered, and was off down the opposite hallway. As soon as Alexandru was gone, an eerie stillness settled over the hallway. There weren’t even footsteps to be heard reverberating. It made it worse, like they were in a vacuum. The narrow walls felt like they’d close in any moment. "Let’s go, then,” America whispered to Europa, gesturing down the hall. The stillness was making his skin crawl. Europa made it to the engine room first, America watching behind them. The entryway was open already and the room inside looked dead as they stepped into it. The wires and pipes strung all over the engine room cast odd labyrinths of shadows across the floor. It looked untouched, as far as she could tell. It was all too easy to imagine Shae hidden among the pipes and tanks, but she couldn’t hear a sound to suggest she was there. In fact, everything was still way too quiet. There were no hums of machinery, barely any lights blinking, virtually no lights at all, actually, aside from the emergency exit lights. Something wasn’t adding up. Europa paused, looking over cold machinery that should have been warm by now. "… why isn’t anything turned on?“ she asked aloud. They both heard something then. There was a brief creaking of metal, then the hiss of the entryway door dropping down. "Hey!” America yelled, pushing at the keypads beside the entryway. The screen and buttons there were as dead as when they’d come in. He banged on the door several times, the pounding sound on the metal being absorbed around them. “How did?-” Europa looked up above the entryway. Above the door, almost unnoticeable among the glow of the emergency lights, was the small red light of the security cameras. Two down, two to go.

Username: MurderVictim Interest Check: Link. It's a little on the old side, but still relevant. Timezone: UTC/GMT -8 hours (Pacific Standard Time) Availability: I check the site periodically throughout the day, whenever I can/remember. Chances are I'll see a message or post not long after it's sent, even if I can't respond in that moment. Posting Frequency: I try to post as often as I can, but my posting times are all over the place. Some days, I can get posts out super quick. Others, I may not be able to get a single one. It depends on what's going on in real life and my writing muse, but I try my best. Posting Frequency For Partner: Any time my partner finds the time is perfectly fine with me. Several times a day, once a day, once a week, I really don't mind. About you: I've been roleplaying for about 8-9 years now, and I've always had a passion for writing. If I feel the right chemistry in a particular roleplay, I'll pour my whole heart into it. I fangirl and fall in love with things too easily, so no story or character is safe! I also try to be as understanding and laid back as I can. Not much fazes me, since I know no one is perfect, and real life is unpredictable and important. Looking For: All I really need is a partner who is patient. My posting frequency is unpredictable, and I really don't need someone who can't wait a day or more. I do slip up and forget from time to time, so friendly pokes are totally welcome, but it's not worth getting angry over. I guess I really just want someone who is understanding and friendly. OOC Chatter: It's not a must, but I do like chatting with my partners. I've found that it helps my partners and I stay in contact longer, even if the different plots we do don't last long. Plotting: I love plotting! I like having a direction to go in, but I also like unexpected twists. I'm pretty flexible. If my partner wants me to bring up anything I have in mind, I don't mind working with them to create a planned out plot. If they want to jump in and be surprised, then I'm cool with that, too. 18+ or 18-: 18+ Mature Content: I'm totally fine with any mature content of any kind. My characters tend to use some strong language, which is pretty unavoidable, and violence is always a good way to hook me on a story. Mature romance is also welcome - I won't shy away from it, but I will respect my partner's limits. Preferred Gender: I do prefer my main character to be female. Other than that, I can play any other character needed. Side guy or girl, villain, random characters - I'll try my hand at them all. Preferred Gender For Partner: I really couldn't care less. Character Limit: I like having one main character when using pairings, alongside a supporting character or two in most cases. I don't like to double. But I do like to throw in other characters to give the story more scope, once we've gotten to a good start and direction. NPCs: I like them, and I'll play them so long as I'm not the only one juggling multiple characters. Medium: PMs are preferred, but I'm not opposed to thread and email. What You Want: Romance is always nice! I don't absolutely need it, as family-type love keeps my interest just as well. Any sort of fluff is what I adore. Dark, gritty, and angsty plots has my love, too. Put them together and I'm in heaven. What You Don't Want: Roleplays with underage main characters are a no-go. No high school settings, or any school settings for that matter. They bore me to death. I might tolerate something in college, as long as the characters are interesting. I'm also not a fan of medieval settings. FxF pairings also do not interest me, though MxM is definitely on the table. Roleplay Interests: - Modern - Slight sci-fi - Fantasy/Supernatural - Dark, gore, drama - Enemies to friends/love interests - Romance Pairings: (Role I prefer is on the right) - Dragon x Human/Rider - Death x Human - Android x Human - Guardian Angel x Charge - Supernatural Creature x Supernatural Creature/Human - Therapist/Doctor/Nurse x Client/Patient - Yandere x Target (not meant to be romance, but it can go either way) - Tsundere x Target/Tsundere - Demon x Human - Alien x Human - Bad Boy x Good/Bad Girl - Supervillain x Civilian/Superhero - Anthro Animal x Human - Open to suggestions! Fandoms: * Gravity Falls - Right now, I'm only looking for someone to play Bill Cipher for my aged up!Dipper. Romance or not, I need this to happen. * Rick and Morty - Specifically, I'm looking for someone to play a Rick. I have many, many ideas. * Pokemon - Gijinka x Trainer only at this time. * Invader Zim - Anything involving ZADR and/or the Tallest. * Johnny the Homicidal Maniac - Anyone up for playing a homicidal maniac? I have an idea involving an eighteen year old Squee, and damn is it gory. * My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Canon or OC, I don't mind. I'm not into any of the fandom's ships, however, aside from any involving Discord. * Undertale - Sans x Frisk/Other Human is what I really want. Other AU's are definitely open. Unfortunately, I haven't finished the game yet. Everything has been spoiled for me, so something post game is perfect. * Supernatural - I recently got into it, and Destiel is my life. I'm not sure how well I can play Dean, but if someone is up for playing Cas, then I'll give it my best shot. * Adventure Time - It's been a long time since I've had a good Marshall Lee x Fiona roleplay. Preferred Length: I'm not a stickler for post length. I don't do word counts. All I ask is for posts that are as long as they need to be. Detail is nice, minus unnecessary prose. However, one-liners will never be tolerated.
"We're Mortys! We're not defined by our relationships to Rick! Our destiny is our own!" Those words still rang in his ears, bouncing around as they slowly lost meaning. He remembered the rush of encouragement, of adrenaline as he joined the other versions of himself spurred on by Morty C-137's speech. His words were powerful, and hit him at the bone. At the time, he believed him. Morty C-237 was a fool. The moment the crowd was broken apart and pushed away from the downed Rick, his senses came crashing back. There was blood on his shirt, his hands, his face. He didn't look any different from most of the other Mortys who surrounded him, and he wasn't treated any differently either. He was escorted from the building and rounded with countless other Mortys like cattle. The light hit him hard, making him shield his face with his bloodied hands. He blinked his eyes open and squinted at all the moving bodies around him until someone shoved him forward. He looked up and saw a Rick staring down at him with an expression of disinterest, which quickly shifted to a frown. "C-C'mon! Move. We don't have all day, asswipe!" Morty swept his gaze down at the ground, and finally moved forward. --- The Council of Ricks had been very vague when they told him when he'd be given a new Rick. "When one needs a replacement," they had told him. Until then, he was expected to shut up and go back to his dimension. Morty had been so numb that he hardly realized when a portal to C-237 had been opened in front of him. Stepping through, he found that his dimension was exactly like it had been. He knew he'd been gone for at least a couple months, so of course there wasn't going to be any changes. Creaking the front door open, Morty peeked around it. The television was on, but no one was watching it. He looked to the kitchen as he caught the heated voices of an argument. Furrowing his brow, he stepped inside and slammed the door behind him. The arguing stopped. His parents had greeted him with hugs and snippy comments towards each other. His mother's eyes were red, her hair was disheveled, and there were what could only be wine stains on her shirt. His father, on the other hand, was perfectly fine. His sister had rushed down the steps, and before Morty could say a word she was pulling him into a bone-crushing hug. One look at her told Morty that she had spent much time crying. That first night was awkward. Beth had made a plate up for Rick, and nearly burst into tears when Jerry pointed it out. All Morty could do was sit and slowly eat, trying not to look up from his plate when his parents started to argue. Summer slammed her fork down and declared that she was going to stay the night at her friend's house. Judging by the way that neither Beth or Jerry attempted to stop her, Morty figured that this was a nightly occurrence. He watched her leave. She didn't come back until two days later. --- Now, almost a month later, Morty was sitting on his bed. He was currently busy inspecting the healing wounds on his sides. The puncture marks had scabbed over, but were still painful when touched. He guessed they would scar. He bit his lip, knowing it could be worse. His time trapped to the building, repeatedly stabbed to keep his brainwaves shrill and powerful, had been short compared to a few others. There had been no set schedule for when the Mortys would be swapped out to prevent actual starvation, so some had been left out there for far longer than others. That Rick hadn't cared to keep track - he just couldn't have any dead Mortys on his hands. A dead Morty couldn't give off brainwaves. Morty still had nightmares, and likely would for a long time. Sighing, he lowered his shirt. He swung his legs off the side of his bed and looked out the window. The sky was dark, hardly punctured by any light. Standing, he went to the small window and leaned against the sill. Silently, he counted the few stars that he could see. He traced them, trying to find the constellations Rick had showed him. He darted his eyes up and down, side to side, but couldn't find any. Either the clouds blocked them all, or he had forgotten them. The teenager took in a deep breath through his nostrils, shuddered, and covered his face as his eyes began to tear up. He couldn't believe he missed that old, drunk asshole. All the scientist had done was drag him around, yell at him, and make him question every aspect of his life. He crushed every sense of security and normality Morty had in the span of one year. Yet, all he could remember was that morning, and how Rick had grabbed his shirt and yanked him back until the kid fell out of his chair. The shot had so clearly been made for Rick, but all that old bastard could do was try to protect Morty's sorry ass while everyone else screamed. "Oh my god, Rick. I fucking hate you." Morty stood there for a long time, crying his eyes out over an old man who was long dead. His Rick was dead and he wasn't coming back. Eventually, with his chest still heaving, he peeled his hands away. He wiped at his face, ridding it of his tears as he looked up just in time to spot a shooting star. His naivety wanted to make a wish, but all he did was turn away. He crossed the room to shut off the light, then headed back to his bed. Once under the covers, he shoved a hand under his pillow before settling down, and was asleep within moments.

Username: Nevix Interest Check: I have one, but it’s kind of outdated in terms of my tastes. Posting Frequency: As often as possible. Usually, I’m not very busy so that can be upwards of a few times a day. Posting Frequency For Partner: Whenever. I’m not picky about this. About you: Confession: I used to be a really bad flake. I like to think I’ve gotten better with that, though. (Also, I love fluff in romance. I’m a sappy fellow.) Preferred Gender For Partner: If it’s a romance RP, I ask that the other main character be female. For non-romance 1x1’s, I’ve no preference. Character Limit: I typically play only one main character, but I’d be willing to budge on this. NPCs: Oh, I love NPC’s. They make the world feel more real. Medium: PM’s most often. Callum smiled despite his exhaustion, he had his own office. 8 years he had been with the Griffins, serving as an assistant healer, soldier, and combat medic. He had finally been made a lead healer, tending primarily to the families of soldiers. Today, his charge was a little girl about seven years old. “Aye, what’s your name, kiddo?” He smiled warmly, trying his hardest not to scare the child. She spoke quietly. “Nina.” “Nina, eh.” He suddenly remembered the child. He had helped deliver her. He smiled with nostalgia, that had been one hell of a night. Yet here it was destroying everything she`d ever known. Turning she stopped in the hall her breathing coming out of her chest in labored breaths. Silver eyes darting all around her she`d never felt so scared. Then she heard a pained scream from down the hall in front of her, a maid. "Run Aria!" That was all it took. As quickly as her legs could take her she ran, she ran faster than she had ever ran in her life down the hall at her side. That was until she heard it, even before she saw it, and she was on the ground. A fist had landed directly into her stomach causing panicked breaths from her diaphragm as she crumbled on the floor. Who was it that punched her, the ones attacking of course, the humans. This male didn`t give her much time to recover at all as he dragged her down the hall by the back of her dress. This of course being after he restrained her hands behind her back. In moments she was dragged to kneel on her knees lined up in a row. Looking over she saw her parents and siblings restrained as well as she heard heavy metal and a low voice. "I was expecting more of the great kingdom of Aterisk, looks like I was wrong." This caused her insides to flare with adrenaline as she looked at this human. His blonde hair hung in thick curtains around his face, his black eyes only being seen because of the intensity within them. "This kingdom will fall as it`s rulers do, in a hundred years the Aterisk family will only be a distant thought." He said as he walked up to her father. "Any last words?" There was silence. Elves were disciplined, they`d rather die in honor than taint their memory with words of anger. The silence was broken with the sound of a blade`s ring. Sobs followed as the life faded from her father. This man kept going, it was sadistic. He asked them for last words and then one by one killed her family. First her father, than her mother, her eldest sister, only brother, younger sister. This man than stood in front of her staring at her with those black eyes, so void of any emotions. "Last words or will you also die in silence?" He asked and she felt the fear he caused, his gaze was enough to terrify someone. All thoughts were frozen and she bowed her head down waiting for it, waiting to die. Than it happened, her saving grace. A huge noise that sounded like an explosion. It was in this moment that for once she didn`t think, she acted. Standing up she ran to the other side of the room, right where the huge stain glass window was, and she used her shoulder to break the think glass and she fell. Loud yells followed and she was sure that this was it, she was going to die, but at least it wasn`t by the man. Closing her eyes immediately after she started falling she was suddenly sliding down a roof and her eyes opened as she grabbed for something to save her. Nothing was working so when she fell off onto the wall of the castle she didn`t just simply stay there, no with adrenaline pumping through her veins, she ran again. When she reached the village there were humans everywhere and so many screams from her kind. She ran down an alleyway and was met with a dead end. There was a noise and she turned around to find a human coming after her, but he never had a chance. An elf killed him, he had others with them, it seemed they were a group. He recognized her immediately. They quickly took her with them and they went into the underground sewers under the town. As time went on this would be where the rebellion would begin.
This is a first post from a roleplay about an elven princess that became the only royal alive after humans overtook her kingdom in one night. The post talks about the night it happened and how it led to the rebellion she leads.

Username The Spectre Interest Check The Spectre's Interest Check Timezone Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). Availability I am available anytime before I have to go to college on the 22rd. After that day, I will be busy with college on Mondays and Wednesdays. I will post my class schedule to you, if you're still interested in being my long term partner. Besides those two days, I am mostly free (besides doing homework or projects) the whole week. In short, I will be very busy on two out of seven days in a week. I will tell you if I have something happening to me and I will try to give you how long it will take. Posting Frequency It depends on the length that you want to have. If it's just two paragraphs, I might have it done within a hour or so. If it's several paragraphs, then that will take longer. I am the kind of person that doesn't want to rush on his work; otherwise, it looks like horrible and someone will know that I have rushed. I will take my time to make sure that my posts are helping advancing the story forward. Posting Frequency For Partner I don't set any requirements from you, because we are different and our speed could be also different. I just only ask that you try to post often enough that it makes both of us happy, but I don't want to read some one-liner after you have been gone for several days. About You You can call me Tre, Trevor or The Spectre, I don't really care about names. I fell in love with writing and reading during my six grade year in middle school. I was the kid where you would find at the library during lunch until I got to high school. I was still interested in writing and reading, but I haven't heard of roleplaying before in my life. Until I got on Habbo Hotel and saw the roleplaying community in action. I would of posted several lines during an action screen in a room that was about Star Wars or Zombies. I had fun with the community until "The Great Mute" happened during the summer of my tenth grade year. I left the site and headed for an Habbo Retro (which was an illegal copy of Habbo Hotel; but, you didn't have to paid real money to get these coins that you can buy still with). The roleplaying community on that site wasn't the same and that was when I left Habbo for good. After I have left, I forced on my drawing skills more and soon fell in love with History. Last year, I was reintroduced to roleplay on Paradox Forums. I read AAR (After Action Reports) of Victoria II or Hearts of Iron III and I also read the World in Revolution series (A nation roleplay that was really popular until the original creator retired). Then, I found this site because of Google and made my account four months ago. And there's one more thing you should know about me. I can be too honest to you and say what's in my mind, good or bad. If I think that something is wrong with the plot, I will be happy to tell you about it and share with you a solution. That's all there's is about me that I am willing to share with y'all. Looking For I am looking for people that are willing to share their thoughts about a story and give honest opinions about things. Someone that's willing to take some kind of direction in writing the story and share their thoughts about it. Someone that can surprise me with some sort of plot twist as long as it make sense. Someone that could tell me if something is wrong with the direction of the story. Someone that asks too many questions about the story and answer many questions that I ask. Someone that doesn't care about romance in a roleplay (of course we can have some, but that won't be the focus of any story that we do). And finally, someone that understands why I don't like to roleplay as any canon character besides the ones that you can customize (Commander Shepard & The Inquisitor for example). OOC Chatter I would love to chat to you about random things like music and what happened on that episode of a very popular television show; however, it isn't mandatory. If you like for us to be only partners and nothing else, then I am fine with that. It won't cause to lose interest in you at all. As long as the story is good and the writing is fine, I am staying with you until told otherwise. Plotting Plotting isn't required as long as I have the bare-minimum and you're willing to change it. But, I won't do all of the work for you. 18+ or 18- Eighteen years old (August 5, 1998). Mature Content I'd rather have mature content in my roleplays as long as it makes total sense and it isn't there to be edgy. For roleplays with romance, I'd rather that we don't into detail about having 'hot coffee in the bedroom'. Preferred Gender I don't have a preferred gender. Preferred Gender For Partner I don't set a preferred gender for my partners. Character Limit I love to have multiple characters and roleplay them, but I am willing to have only one. It isn't the end of the world for me. NPCs I am fine with having NPCs as it makes the story feel more alive than just having us in it. Medium My only medium are threads as I would often forget that I have a roleplay going on in private message. I don't roleplay off site as well. And I might have just lost a lot of people because of that. I only allow threads, because I would like others to see our story being played out. What You Want I want to have realism in our stories, meaning I am a big fan of historical settings. I also want to have someone (that has roleplayed in the Nation Roleplay section before) to do some sort of 1x1 NRP. I want someone that's willing to help me out with making the story and pushing it forward. What You Don't Want No Mary-Sues, no Gary-Sues, and no Godmoding. I don't want one-liners and people who don't help me with making the story. I am not going to help your ass out, if you're just planning to do nothing. I only thing that I will help you with is kicking your ass away from me. I don't want to play as canon characters (Batman and Superman for example). I am not a big fan of High Fantasy, I'd rather have low fantasy than medium fantasy. Roleplay Interests

History/Alternative History.
Drama.
Crime.
Mystery.
Thriller.
Apocalyptic/Post-Apocalyptic.
Science fiction.
Fantasy fiction.
Political.
Paranoid.
Action.
Adventure.
Nation Roleplays. I'm both a Casual and an Advanced user, but I do have a habit of hanging out in the advanced section more than the casual. I do not accept one-liners, and I prefer to uphold a two paragraph minimum from my partners. Writing Sample This introduction was from one of my first roleplays on here, No Turning Back. It was popular until the creator left the roleplay and it died. Besides that, I use this and several posts from different roleplays as samples. Here it is:
He couldn't believe all of this was happening. Mars was under attack as he watched the Devastators bombing the capital city of the Red Planet from his desktop. Kevin Wilson Ford didn't want this day to come, where he was leaving behind Earth rather than staying with his family. They are currently in the White House in Washington DC, where the President offered shelter to the citizens before they came to Earth. His mother, father, one brother, and five sisters were together in the White House as the world was ending and that made Kevin cried. He had been in the White House before, working as an ambassador does often need to be in the White House, and it was one of the most beautiful buildings within the area. Then, he realized that he still has a picture of them before they left from the Ark. He remembered the event as if it was yesterday and it was one of the funniest things he has ever done. The world ending can cause you to be thankful for certain things and remind you of them as well. After looking at the pictures of ten minutes, he put it down on the table as he watched the invasion in the safety of The Ark. He and his family were the lucky ones to be selected, but is it really luck to be one of the last humans left to save humanity? That question reminded him of his first reaction when he got the news.
It was in the afternoon time as Kevin had been called over to a secured meeting spot. He knew where it was, but he didn't know the place despite living in Washington D.C for most of his life. He thought that something was going wrong with the government, but this was a different type of meeting. The man on the other side of the table looked to his papers and then looked at Kevin as he sighed before speaking to him. "Listen, I have already done around eight other ambassadors. Do you want me to just say it or bullshit it until I say it?" "Huh?" was the only the word that Kevin could say as he was confused by the question. The man breathed slowly as he pushed forward some papers and documents about the Genesis Protocol. He read for a while until he realized what this meeting was about, he had been selected to board one of them. Kevin couldn't believe it as he knew that he was able to live again with his family, but something wasn't right about this and he knew it. The documents said that only three other people can be taken, meaning that he had to leave behind his mother and father. Words couldn't describe how Kevin was feeling at the moment and the man tapped the table to bring him back to reality. "Listen, you and three other people must leave in two months to head to Africa. That's where the Arks are located and your Ark is called The Vitae." the man said towards Kevin with an honest tone in his voice. He couldn't believe that he was selected to board one of these Arks and he didn't care why. Then, he has begun to ask questions about how he will tell his family and friends that he was leaving them behind for good. He began to think about his mother and father, thinking how they couldn't come and their last days on Earth. He couldn't show that he was ungrateful for being selected, but it was almost impossible to hide it. The man knew that he was holding back and didn't say anything as the meeting kept going until Kevin left.
As he was watching the news, he heard Admiral William Locke's voice coming from the intercom in his room. The tiny speaker on the wall nearby the door. Kevin listened to the speech that the Admiral gave as he said that 'the future of our species is in our hands'. He already knew that since he was given the job to watch over The Archive, a room of wonders and information. This room was one of the important rooms in this ship as it contained all knowledge of humanity. It was going to be his job to watch over and check out The Archive until something happens to him. He didn't know if anyone else was going to join him in the room, but he was happy to guard and protect The Archive. In return, the crew of The Vitae protected his family. There was a screen in his room that collected to the stasis cameras on his family. Brandon, Wyatt, and Julia were all safe and frozen in time as if they were just sleeping. Kevin hoped that he could visit them and they would be wide awake, but there wasn't enough supply to give out. The entire family knew that as well and agreed to the terms. He remembered their last moments before entering the ship.
They had been in Africa for a couple weeks as they traveled all over the land to see the animals for the last time. Kevin didn't know what was going to happen to them. Would they be left alone or will they die among with humans? He felt a light tap on his shoulder from his wife as she gave him a kiss on the cheek. They were nearby the Ark as they were astonished about the size of it. Brandon pointed and said, "That's where we are going?!" Julia laughed and said to her son proudly, "Yes, that's our new home." She almost cried as she through of her own family back home in California. But, she had to keep it together from her family as Kevin gave her a hug. "This is where I am going to be working as well." he said as he pointed out the details on the ship to get Brandon excited. Wyatt had every right to be upset and angry at the fact that they were leaving behind everyone as he pointed out that. "I can't believe this crap! This ship could fit all of us from Aunt Malia to Grandfather. All of this isn't fair!" he said with such angry that it scared Brandon. Kevin placed one hand on Wyatt's shoulder and said to him, "I know that it isn't fair that we can't bring everyone, but we are doing so they can live on. Your grandmother and grandfather would be so proud of you and Brandon." Wyatt hugged his father as he couldn't hold back the tears anymore. Julia and Brandon joined in the hug as if it was the last hug they were giving. After the hug, Julia looked Kevin at his eyes and started to talk. "I know that you don't want to hear it, but I am truly proud of you. When I first met you, I knew that the world was ending and it was pointless to find love. However, I did find it and it was you Kevin Wilson Ford. I love you so much that If I knew that this was the outcome or we were going to die, then I would do it again and again." He felt a soft, meaningful kiss as if it was the last kiss they would ever have. There was no need for goodbyes and 'I love you' because they already said that. And then, they began to walk towards the Ark.
A single tear fell from his eye as he looked at his sleeping family on screen. He did his job and it was to protect them, no matter the cost. The speech ended a while ago as he didn't care about it at all, despite how well the admiral sounded like he was the leader. But, he didn't want to be alone with his self. As he grabbed his desktop, he exited out of his room and headed towards where the rest of the crew was hanging out before the Ark left behind the Solar System.
Hunched over in his chair, Rooke typed away incessantly at his computer, the only light illuminating the dark room he had been in for the past 5 hours. He leaned back in his chair and brushed away a stray lock that fell carelessly in his line of sight. His half empty coffee cup, cold to the touch, sat next to him as he removed his glasses. He exhaled heavily and pinched his nose, rubbing the corners of his eyes. Taking a cursory look at the screen, he went over the document one last time. His eyes raked over the title, “Conformity in Action: An In-Depth Analysis on the Recent History of Synergy, Bending, and The Republic”, the subtitles, the content. With a tired, nonsensical mutter, he pressed down on the enter key decisively and shut his laptop, moving to place it inside his bag. He checked his watch. 2:20 AM. He turned on his heel and exited his office into the main laboratory. There were no lights to shut off; moonlight leaking in from the rooftop windows gleamed off the metal and glass of the objects in the room, making them seem eerily impersonal. Leaving the building, he located his car under the light of a flickering lamp and sped away. It wasn’t a surprise that the lights were on when he arrived home. He pushed past the gate and approached the front door, unlocked upon his arrival. Rookie shrugged off his coat and lay his bag near the hanger before entering the kitchen. “Still up? You should be resting,” he said lightly, with a small smile. An elderly woman, who sat at the table with a stack of papers in one hand and a hot mug of tea in the other, grinned at him before saying, ”You know I’ve got the energy and heart of any person your age." “Yes, you do, and it astounds me everyday.” He grabbed a porcelain cup from the cabinets and poured Jasmine tea into it, watching the steam coil and rise, “I finished the revisions today—just submitted it your favorite journal." She closed her eyes and nodded sagely, “Good to hear. I do love ’Science of The Republic’. Despite the damnable title, it’s a good source." She motioned to the chair next to her and said, ”Come here and stop hunching your back—you look like you’re 50." Rooke smiled and sat down, cupping the warm cup with both hands. His reflection looked back at him, and he realized how haggard he looked; crow’s feet, droopy eyes, and frayed hair stared back at him. They sat in relative silence, before his grandma reached out a wrinkled hand to grasp his own. “Rooke,” she said softly, “This is killing you. I know you, and I know The Republic—they're twisting your work." He barked out a laugh and shook his head, ”Killing me? That’s a bit of an exaggeration. I understand what you’re saying, but there is nowhere else I would have the resources and reputation that I have now.” Rooke downed the last of his tea, ignoring the burning sensation that crawled through his throat and rested in his stomach. He looked his grandmother in the eye and gave her hand a tight squeeze, and said, ”I know you worry, but I enjoy what I do. Do I agree with the way the government utilizes all of my work? No. But that's a mistake I won’t make again." She eyed him tiredly and responded, ”We’ve been through this; as long as you work for them, you perpetuate what you don’t believe in. It’s no longer a matter of personal ideology." He bit back a retort and smoothed his hair back before standing to leave. He moved to kiss his grandmother on the forehead and stopped at the doorway; "Tomorrow I’ll be focusing on Constructive Synergy Tech again. I won’t let his vision waste away. Goodnight Gran.” He smiled softly turned away; Shadows emphasizing the lines on his face and his smile dropped into a tired frown. With half lidded eyes, Rooke sluggishly climbed the steps to his room, before collapsing on the bed and towards the relief of sleep.
