He is the median between Chaos and Order, his "Sphere" is not Chaos, but the lack there of. 
"Absence" is his sphere, meaning null, nothing, void.
The Trinity is the combination of Chaos, Order and Absence.
The "Endless sleep" of one of his races is basically death, since they are "Souless" they cannot "Die" but they can be incapacitated for eternity which is pretty much death, therefore they are deceptively immortal.
