Clyde takes pride that he maintains the lawn and the upkeep around the house, which is hard work given the state it was bought in. There is a lovely flower garden in the front where his mothers spends her free time. There are also bars on the windows for obvious reasons.[/indent]

[indent]Ever since the death of his father in the 2003 Invasion of Iraq, his family has fallen on hard times. With a grieving mother barely holding up the family alone on a meager paycheck, Clyde has taken upon himself to take care of the family while his mother is away. All his life he has toiled and made sacrifices for both his sister and mother. Coming from a less than favorable neighborhood forced Clyde to learn how to defend himself. Taking boxing lessens has strengthened his body and allowed him to defend his sister. Clyde cares nothing for his schooling and prefers to get the year done as fast as possible so he can enter the workforce to support his family.[/indent]

Clyde watches Lilac box when he is resting from his sessions. He swears it is nothing weird (though it seems to the contrary). The boy likes to observe her techniques and enjoys seeing how she operates. Coincidentally, whenever Clyde has free money (which is a rarity) he buys the cheapest confectioneries from the bakery Lilac's family owns and operates. Because of his shy nature he tries his best to avoid the fighter. He has a crush on Lilac but is too afraid of doing anything about it.

Ever since Clyde moved to his current neighborhood from Killeen, Texas, Abbie McGumffery has made herself known and present in his household. At first she terrified the Hell out of him, now she only terrifies him half the time. Clyde considers Abbie a dear friend despite their different personality traits. In fact, Abbie is the closest friend Clyde has. Because of their close relationship, Clyde is very protective of Abbie should he see someone attempting to hurt her. More often than not, Abbie is considered a foil to Clyde. She is the only female outside his family that Clyde can talk to normally.

Their first interaction was not what one could call a good first impression. When Indiana Ryder tried to strike up a conversation with Clyde, the boy stumbled on his words, mumbled something about how lovely the pastries at the Rider's bakery was, and promptly ran away from the conversation. Why the popular girl wanted anything to do with the boy still confuses him to this day; he regrets making a fool of himself in front of her.

Caleb made himself known when he stopped his brother, Jacob McKinnon, from harassing Clyde. At first it confused the boy as no one had ever stood up for him before. But soon it dawned upon Clyde that Caleb is a genuinely kind person. To this day Clyde is trying to find out how to express his gratitude.

Jacob is a guy that Clyde has had numerous run-ins with. Despite Clyde's overwhelming size compared to his classmates, it does not stop Jacob from harassing him. And being the way he is, Clyde says nothing to defend himself from Jacob. He wishes Jacob would leave him be.
