That's true.  You mean he sires Violet almost immediately - oh yeah, it's only like four or five years later when Elizabeth burns his house down...  In that case, he might technically have been working on a clan for longer than Elizabeth.  I don't think she sired Jonathan until years later, and only after that does she consider building a clan to protect herself and Jonathan.
