This is a project I am working on and I am looking for some people interested in helping me iron it out, add and build to it and eventually GM.
We all knew it would come eventually, the day nature would reclaim what was hers, the day she would retaliate for all the vile awful things we did. Some of us saw it coming and tried to minimise and even undo the damage, but sadly it was all too little too late. There were just too many who chose to blatantly ignore all the warning signs. Blinded by ignorance and greed, deluded by misinformation or overwhelmed by a simple selfish lack of care. No, deep down inside all of us a part of us knew it was coming, we all knew what we were doing to our home and each other was wrong and in part we are all to blame. But what we didn't know and never could have imagined was the way in which it her vengeance would take place, perhaps we underestimated her true power... Yes there were the floods, plagues, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. A grandeur display of her merciless might. But we could survive that, we did. We never could have anticipated what came next, the true extent and versatility of her plan when pushed to the final limits. The cold cleverness and violent ruthlessness of it, or her commitment and perseverance to see it through to the end. To see us eradicated for good. We no longer need to protect nature, but if we wish to survive we must protect ourselves from her, and her creatures." -Script of old-
At a time when technology could usher prosperity for all, the world remained divided. The bountiful plentiful was hoarded by the few. With priorities skewed destruction was inevitable. If man didn't start it first, nature would have. Fire rained down from the sky and new suns were born and died in mere moments upon the planets surface. The explosions are the main stories passed on, long forgotten are the tales of death from disease, cold, starvation, deficiency, dehydration and the cruelty of depravity and desperation that followed. Despite all the earth cleansing chaos, in the far reaching corners of the globe scarce pockets of life survived. Nature didn't give up, new genius ways to wipe humans off the earth followed one after another, as the battle continued humanity reached nearer and nearer extinction. Centuries eventually passed and the old world was buried before a new one could be born. Nature reclaimed much of the surface that the oceans either hadn't or had since returned. The last of the humans who now found themselves stripped of their empires and technologies and very quickly nearing the brink of extinction found refuge beneath the ground in a giant enclosed concrete settlement. Its origins are now unknown. A massive vast circular wall on the surface gives some ground to the residents that they may call their own. This is the only place known to be able to sustain life while simultaneously holding the vile forces of nature at bay. Here life has managed to continue. It is unknown if others are out there somewhere, it is a thought that has become as irrelevant as the notion to look beyond the wall. In this new world, amongst the vast endless stretch of deep greens and blues there are still some odd strange rare monuments of the old world scattered across the land, some that stand tall, some deeply buried and then there are those smaller ones that are simply misunderstood and have even become hidden in plain sight, amongst of and part of everyday life.
