Lord Ormund Hightower was cut down at Tumbleton, his armies scattered by the ineffective rule of the turncoat dragonseeds and his house reprimanded for the actions of his uncle and cousin. The ruler of Oldtown left behind an heir no older than his thirteenth name day. His measurement by novices in the Citadel marks him at a full height of 6' 8", placing him head and shoulders above an average knight. His body is built broad and powerfully, well suited for manual labor or in the most common case, rigorous combat. His skin, while well cared for and fair, is kissed by the sun and rough along his hands from days in the training yard. He has a myriad of small scars all over his body from his misadventures in life. His favorite, however, is the one which runs from his forehead down to his mid cheek, barely missing his eye. He claims this mark is from a foolish boyhood attempt at riding his maternal house's namesake. He has a handsome face, broad jawed and rugged with stubble decorating his chin more often than not. Chestnut hair is groomed short and wild atop his head, kept clear of the pale blue hues which make up his irises.
[sub][ ⚔ ]History[/sub]

Nearly born to the name of Flowers over Hightower, Bors' tale begins with his father and his less than savory ways. A lad of sixteen, Garth Hightower was the second son of Lord Ormund Hightower and thus, needed worry little about the strains of ruling. As hedonistic as his namesake, Garth took to drinking and merriment in his youth. He charmed his way into the chambers of many a lady, highborn or low. One Melissa Bulwer was no exception. After a quick romp during a routine visit to Oldtown, the young lady found herself not with a pocket full of memories, but with child. Realizing her folly, Melissa made to inform Garth of the situation and pray he be kind. Upon being laughed off by the irresponsible sire of her child, she tearfully turned towards his brother instead. Otho Hightower was a stern man. A just man. Upon hearing of his kin's actions, he was swift in confronting his brother. Long had Otho grown sick of Garth's pleasure-seeking and decided that no longer would he shame their house. He gave his brother a choice; marry Melissa Bulwer so his child was trueborn, or find a different family to bring shame to. Garth picked the wiser option. A rushed ceremony ensued, the unborn Bors hidden away from public knowledge. Garth continued his lofty lifestyle and a young bride was left with a child. Coming into the world with strong lungs and more importantly, the banner of the Hightowers on his swaddling clothes, Bors was born months later. A thorough handful for his poor mother, the rambunctious child spent his early years playing and living among his similarly aged cousins until he was old enough for the topic of warding to come along. Though the lustful man who had sired him brought many more siblings into the world on Bors' heels, his parent's marriage was less than happy. In an act of good faith and perhaps mercy, he was sent off to live out his remaining days as a boy with his maternal family at Melissa's request. Blackcrown became Bors' home from there forward. Until the watchful eye of Lord Eustace Bulwer the boy was educated. He learned of accounts and ledgers, of manners and courtship and perhaps his favorite all, of sword and lance. Nothing could catch his attention as stories of battle during his history lessons, or so perfectly hold him still as when he watched the men-at-arms practice in the yard. It was obvious early on that Bors was not a man suited for stewardship or intrigue, but for battle and glory. His grandfather tailored his lessons to fit that. He was given extra time with training blade and pony alike once his lesser studies were finished. Becoming a page for the Lord of Blackcrown himself, the child proved himself a promising future warrior. By the time he was ten and two the boy was regularly sparring with the castle's guardsmen and nearly as tall as some of them. Of course, he was not the only boy in Blackcrown who aspired for knighthood. Nor was he the only talented sword arm among his grandfather's squires.
