I mean.

I personally don't care either way, but Chieko's just stating the truth as she believes it to be. And as someone who believes the truth/law/justice trumps anything else, she believes she's in the right...so Chieko is simply staying true to her character by defending herself when she thinks Grian is in the wrong here.
