Blobs that have an interesting and well thought out biology and an interesting way of seeing the world that lends itself to creating a star spanning civilization. The Blob people/hive/fractals! 

The level of organization we place preference on in human society may not be the only place to put it, we place it on an Organism, but what if a society placed more importants on the rights of parts of organisms? perhaps these parts may have more autonomy than that of a human, perhaps every part of an organism is seen as a person perhaps the group is considered a person, perhaps the universe is considered "person"
