Yeah Maria is better at defending than any sort of offensive play. Her fighting style is more reactionary with combination of her blessings, swordsmanship, Strength, and armor, or getting a surprise non lethal attack with her presence concealment. If she doesnt get the drop on Jiru I cannot say it is likely she would catch him.
