IC Voidhawk Advertisement: "The Farseers Guild has finally revealed their great project! They are sending a state-of-the-art craft out into the depths of the universe to explore and discover. The Guild wishes to send a crew into the depths of space to discover new life, document new societies, and study new phenomena. The IC Voidhawk is the last of the independently produced starcraft capable of reaching FTL speeds, now that the Collective has assumed control of all interstellar production. Unfortunately, this government muzzle on interstellar travel means that the Guild is lacking in the crew department, so they need YOUR help. The Guild needs 5-8 people willing to leave all the know and love here in the Collective Systems. Preferably, all applicants should vary in their skills, and variation in background would be excellent also. No prior education is required, but don't expect to get picked for one of the Scientist slots if you don't have a diploma! The Guild looks forward to learning about our greater Universe. Apply today!"
Right, onto more important matters.
Note, the year is 2311
The FTL or Faster Than Light drive is the only engine usable by humanity to travel across the universe fast enough to avoid time distortion, dilation, or other awkward relativistic issues. Generally powered by dwarf star matter, other races have been known to use antimatter, Planetary Core Material, or miniature black holes. The FTL is extremely dangerous to be near without shielding, and is thus often surrounded by a thick wall of lead or other heavy metal.

The Earthside Collective is the conglomeration of all Human planets, systems, and bases. It currently consists of seven major systems, 46 outpost systems, 12 asteroid bases, and 3 freefloating space stations. It has recently imposed a ban on non-military FTL drives, for purposes of anti-espionage. The Collective was formed in 2237, following the colonization of the Alpha-Centauri system. The Farseers Guild is a foundation on the planet Thalon in the Sirius system. Originally a branch of the Collective Military Science Services, they broke off and formed a monastic-like order, dedicated to understanding the greater universe. Incredibly wealthy from the discovery and sale of advanced technology, they often fund their own missions. The Voidhawk is their last and most ambitious of these missions.

Most starcraft have 3 types of weapons. Laser weapons fire bolts of energy capable of damaging most solid materials, but easily deflected by shields. Missiles (generally dwarf-star explosives) ignore most shielding, but can be shot down or dodged. Proton guns fire incredibly slowly, but ignore shields and travel at ridiculously high speeds; they are also incredibly expensive The Voidhawk is equipped with both Laser Weapons and Missiles, and can fire two of each weapon at once. Personal weaponry generally consists of Laser Pistols or Rifles, especially because personal shields are so difficult to produce. Some soldiers still prefer old ballistics based weaponry, but body armor is so advanced that it's rarely useful. Power cells last far longer than a clip of ammunition, and laser weapons have greater range and customization.

Teleportation was the first grand product produced by the Farseers Guild, and was an instant success. Operating over short range (Intra-Planetary travel only (one planet)), teleporters can send most objects instantly to their destination, 99% of the time without a hitch. AI computer systems were independently invented, but are now widespread. Asimov's Laws of Robotics have been put in place for all AI, and the government has strictly banned any AI or Robot designed without them, or designed to ignore them. AI's have incredibly high functioning capacity, and can solve nearly any mathematical problem. All starcraft come equipped with one to run the onboard systems. Medical science is now so far along that most diseases have been cured, and limbs and even organs (with the exception of the Brain) can be regrown from a simple scan of the body before they were lost. Data-banks store these scans forever, so most people have one on file after they turn 18. Crew members of the Voidhawk are required to have one done prior to launch.

Voidhawk Picture
The Bridge is the command center for the entire ship, where most non-science personnel serve their day-to-day duties. Serviced by the Voidhawk's central AI, Harry, the jobs of the men and women who work here are generally decision making and turning things on in the proper order.

Each Crew Member has been given an entire room to themselves, a luxury on most FTL capable ships. The rooms are small, roughly 12 ft by 12 ft, and contain only a locker, bed, and desk. Showers and bathrooms are down the hall. They are located just behind the bridge

Designed to support any kind of science, the labs are located just behind the crew quarters, in front of engineering. The AI, Henry, can change the lab equipment upon request, thus formatting them to fit whichever scientist happens to be in one of the four rooms at any one time.

Essentially a massive engine room, which also happens to house life support, power, weapons systems, and other important services. The largest chamber, it is at the very back of the ship.

STL, or Slower Than Light transports, generally only function over short range. The Voidhawk is equipped with two small, remote controlled service vehicles, a lander craft, and a short-range teleportation room, capable of transporting up to 6 people at once.

And now Rules. These are so important they don't get a hider 1. I am the GM. My word is law. All hail. 2. Please let us know if you will be unavailable for a time period, we'll try to accomodate. 3. Someone is expected to post within 5-7 days of the last post. I will not just post to keep this alive, this RP depends as much on you all as it does on me. 4. I'm going to rate this PG-15, anything a 15 year old couldn't handle, dont put it here. 5. Follow all generic RPGuild rules 6. Please be reasonable with your Collabs 7. Have fun, of course. 8. PM me with any questions
and Finally, CS basics:
Character Name: Age: Homeworld: Position onboard the Voidhawk: Appearance: Picture or description fine Strengths: Weaknesses: Other Important Personality Traits: Bio: Why does your Character want to venture with the Voidhawk?: Other: Optional
Post your sheet in OOC to have me review it first, and then move it to Characters after I approve it.
