-Coming Soon: OOC News and Storylines-
The History of Boca Diablo

1765: A group of settlers have wandered from the colonies, which are nearly in revolt. They wander for nearly a year, making their way through the harsh heat and swamps of Florida, only to find themselves in a meadow. This is where they settled. They begin setting up, sending courier pigeons towards St Augustine to tell of their arrival and to request assistance in setting up. This was the last known message sent from the original settlers. Groups of workmen and, well, more settlers had begun their journey down to the swamps. But when they arrived they found not a soul. Except one, tired looking man. His eyes were dark but he was pale as the moon. This man would be recognized as Doctor Jackson Smith. Smith walked up to the large group, threw down a beaten looking journal, and merely said Boca Diablo. These were the last known words of Smith, as he soon after disappeared into the swamp, never to be seen again. The journal proved to be indecipherable. 1800: Revolution has come and gone, and wealth has come to Boca Diablo. Vacationers from all around the world come to the town for it's unique location. Even more unique are the Native American artifacts found in the swamp. These artifacts depicted fire raining from the skies, and devils erupting from the ground. After enough exploring, the tribe's burial site was found. All recovered corpses were shriveled, and ancient. There was no way to discern the cause of death. This made the location very interesting to archaeologists. 1930: A mysterious hooded man walks into the town. Boca Diablo has lost it's appeal to many, but not to this individual. He claims to have translated the journal, and reveals it to be a holy book. And in this book Boca Diablo is the holy land. So the Church of the Flower is founded, it's name based off the supposed "life flowers" found in the book. This church would soon become Boca Diablo's primary religion 1953: Alien spacecraft is supposedly seen crashing into the swamp. When investigated, crater and mysterious footprints found. Investigation leads nowhere, is soon dropped April 2nd, 1984: Boca Diablo mayor and city council drop off the face of the Earth.

General Boca Diablo Area (GBDA) Landmarks

Heaven's River: Area within a mile of the power plant. Due to recent events, people have become more hesitant to go there. Heaven's River is unique due to the fact that seemingly little to no animal life inhabits the area. However, you know you're there when you find yourself surrounded by blue moss. Located to the northeast of the general township. -Epiphany Crater: Supposed "alien" crash site. The footprints of whatever landed there have not gone away, and seem to be embedded in stone. Everything within 10 meters of the crater was burned terribly. -Veteran's Memorial: A small set of obelisks inscribed with the names of BD residents who died in the war. -Smith's Folly: A series of caverns that seemingly lead down for miles. After a certain point, a cave in blocks the pathway down. Only the determined, or flexible, could make it past. Towards the entrance is a small side cavern, containing the remains of the Incognit Tribe. Cooper Keep: The most rural area of Boca Diablo. It is located on the polar opposite end of town, 1 mile southwest from the general township. Contains 3 farms, and various public services -Tiria Farm: This farm is the only currently unoccupied. The residents seemingly vanished in the middle of the night, leaving no trace. Was occupied by member of the city council -Stone Hill: The town graveyard, it has a memorial honoring all those original settlers. Due to the town's size, every deceased individual in the town has been buried there, so it is quite massive Boca Diablo: Central story setting. Quite an average town. -Jackson Smith Statue: Located in the middle of town, this statue is one of the single surviving settler: Jackson Smith. Legend has it that on thundering nights, when even moonlight is drowned out, the statue comes to life http://imgur.com/a/hxeKL Map I drew up conveying where the landmarks are (It's pretty shit but conveys the info well enough)

Boca Diablo Terminology

The Smokestack: Used by many locals, particularly those who are over 50 years of age, to refer to the Power Plant.
