[@Rai] I keep trying things. Eventually, one will work.
Quote: "Constantly losing small objects? Always itching when you pass by the fireplace? Seeing flickering in the corner of your eyes during the twilight hours? Your house may be haunted! Fortunately, for the low low price of eleven coppers, I can perform an exorcism to rid you of ghostly inhabitants!" Name: Velvet Age: 47 Species: Angelic Descendant Blood%: 20% Seraphim, 30% Nayu, 30% Tyro, 20% Sol Gender: Female Sex Preference: Hetero primarily, but open. Height: 5'6" Weight: 153 Physical appearance: Apparel: ^ Her headgear is an enchanted item, enhancing her natural Seraphim soul detection ability into an analogue of vision, much more precise and capable of gaining more detailed information about a soul, as well as improving her control over her soul-type spells. However at the cost of her actual normal vision while using it, and nine times her duration of using it afterwards. She can use this power even while blinded from the price of the power, just increasing her debt. Vehicle: See Powers/Spells. Personality: Velvet loves her freedom. Freedom to lie, cheat, and trick others to get a place to stay and food to eat, freedom to heal, avenge, and bring justice for free if it strikes her fancy. Freedom from the very existence of physicality, as her Twilight Steps flicker in and out of the world. She loves not being tied down. That said, a few things still hold a place of importance in her heart. Velvet respects and wishes to help Calidae's goals (hey, if you can make everyone immortal, I'm sure they'll forgive you for the people you had to eat in the meantime, she tells herself), in return for training. Velvet still has ties to her old monastery where she was raised, wanting to keep those who lived there safe as well as earn their recognition and be a big hero. While Velvet has managed to rationalize away Calidae's actions, she has not been able to bring herself to emulate them, even for immortality. When she passes herself off as a pacifist unwilling to fight, she might not be so far off from the truth, unwilling to kill. She has a fair amount of pride and rivalry in her heart as well, which also helped tie her to Calidae. Occupation: Private Investigator, Healer, Exorcist, Monk, Charlatan, Medium. Faction: Student of Calidae (not generally advertised), interested in Magoi (but does not yet meet the requirements), most recently does work for Taxis as a healer and exorcist, (hiding her less savory powers, and generally pretending to be a pacifist support personnel). Pet: See Powers/Spells. Adv. App.: Nope. Exp: The majority of Velvet's training is under Calidae, learning the ways of manipulating souls and researching this with Calidae, as well as mastering her own affinities. Calidae's methods of advancing spell form often go along the idea of "enchant something to make your magic stronger", and "sacrifice blood/souls until you have enough power to do what you want" and so Velvet's magic usually follows the same style. On the subject of martial combat, while she's been in enough life and death situations to not freeze, she's no warrior, much better at dodging away than fighting back. She's also recently started learning healing magic from Taxis. Spells: Healing: Velvet's learning healing magic from Taxis, hoping to learn more about physiology to someday assist Calidae's fleshwarping experiments, as well as broaden her magical prospects. She wonders if she'd be able to use her Soul Trap Orbs and advanced healing magic to resurrect someone when she's someday as strong as Calidae is now. Soul Trap Orbs: Velvet's most potent spell/enchantment combo she developed with Calidae's assistance and training, these orbs can suck in the souls of those dead, dying, or on otherwise on the edge of the void. Once trapped within an orb, Velvet has a few uses for theese pour souls. The most simple is simply asking a question and receiving an answer. She has no special ability to force the trapped soul to tell the truth. Another use is to siphon them for raw power for another spell. Finally, Velvet can force the soul to manifest into a false Soul Armor/Weapon. While not the real deal, weaker, short in duration, it's still handy. Depending on Velvet's strength in comparison to the soul, she can twist the manifestation of the Soul Armor/Weapon to be something that she needs, rather than what reflects the soul. Using a soul orb in these ways other than asking a question burns out the orb for a duration depending on the strength of the soul and the amount of power drawn, but usually a matter of days or weeks. Forcing more power out of an orb while in this state shatters the orb and destroys or unleashes the soul. The amount of Soul Trap Orbs Velvet can maintain is limited, both in the amount she can currently have enchanted, and how many can currently be holding souls. Calidae is worried Velvet is drawing off her own soul's lifespan to maintain these spectral servants, and should proceed to enchant the Soul Cage into herself like Calidae has, but Velvet disagrees and thinks she has plenty of time, only being 47. Scroll Enchanter- Velvet knows how to make a number of single use or limited duration parlor trick enchantments for use on scrolls, written in her own blood. They're always thematically tied to two of her bloodlines, like a flash of blinding fire (Tyro + Sol), or a puff of dark irritating pollen (Nayu + Sol). They go bad once the blood is fully dry in ten or so minutes. Compared to normal spells, these take a long time to prepare (writing things out in your own blood) and have a very weak effect better for distraction than anything else, but you can do that prepartion before hand and they're very flexible. (If you need a specific list, just give me the number of specific spells I could have, and I'll make that many up). Velvet is hoping she might learn a healing technique to preserve these for longer someday. Abilities/Powers: Twilight Steps- While Velvet has obviously not learned the Seraphim art of air walking, or Nayu shadowstepping, a wierd hybrid ability has manifested for her. When focusing on her footwork, her steps flicker in and out of tangible reality, giving her a truly unnatural quickness, occasional sudden flickering jumps of an extra step of movement with no inertia rather than a true speed boost, as well as phasing into intangibility for half-steps. While potentially potent, Velvet doesn't have great control of it, and attempting to use the intangibility to evade attacks or go through objects would be highly ill advised, or timing a jump to prevent an enemy from blocking an attack would be a toss of the dice. Weapons: Well, you could hit someone with that staff, but it probably wouldn't be that great. It's not really enchanted or anything, nor its its construction materials particularly sturdy. History: Velvet was raised in a monastery, and it is assumed she is one of many abandoned children given to such institutions by poor families who cannot support another mouth. Though her Seraphim blood makes this odd. As a child, her slight Seraphim blood made her a natural at the monastic arts.. But not nearly as talented as another child, Eliphas, whose Seraphim blood was far thicker. Competition with Eliphas defined her childhood, and the rivalry and anger in her heart over being unable to best him soon made her worse in their eyes than even the non Seraphim blooded children. Running away at fourteen, Velvet might have died alone in the wilderness or been enslaved and sold, but instead she encountered Calidae. Lucky for Velvet, Calidae had already recently fed, and Calidae saw shades of herself in Velvet, and so for the next 30 years, Velvet trained under Calidae, gaining mastery in quite a few unnatural arts. Velvet hoped to return home triumphantly, but found the monastery in ruins. Since then, Velvet has traveled the land, righting wrongs, looking for signs of what happened to them, wronging rights, seeking ever more spells and mastery of the mystic arts for her own pride, to show Eliphas, and to repay Calidae. Trivia: Velvet usually uses old prayer scripts from the monastery for her scroll enchantments. She enjoys singing. Is not particularly good or bad at it.

The amount of different abilities of a spell counts as alternate spells. So for your orb spell to suck souls, speak to souls, siphon them for spells, and create armor & or weapons all equates to four spells. Which is your starting maximum. Perhaps get rid of two to keep the healing spell and your ability. As I've stated before the blood % determines your level of affinity for Descended spells and abilities. With time you can branch into spells of whichever blood you have. But the time and level of mastering these spells increased the further your bloodline is. So since she is so spread apart she isn't going to be that strong starting out. But the powers can be versatile and unique. I never mentioned it I believe. But equipment that's enchanted I'll allow if it's not usable as armor and has only one enchantment. So either she can see souls better or it enhances her spells. Pick one. But she must have the soul detection ability. Which you will need to make room for. Unless you want this item to act as your soul detection, but only through the eyes. To create scrolls is an ability only advanced spellcasters truly have. Those who dedicate their lives to a monk like status. Learning the complicated rituals needed to make a scroll. This knowledge can be passed down through your master. But the scrolls will not produce strong spells and will be complicated to make. This can be equal to smithing, so its not really a spell. As anyone can make a scroll at a decent level of spellcasting and anyone can use these scrolls even if not the right affinity. Your twilight step ability needs revision. You can rid of the Tyro blood to add more to seraph to become intangible momentarily. Then theres only one ability it can have. So either it gives a speed boost or momentary intangibility, it can do both. But you must rid of a spell. At 20% you can not become intangible even at a weak level. Your overall spells/ powers equal to 7. I only allow 4. Lower it to be accepted. I do like the concept though.
