I guess in a way his sudden intellect can work with it. We have a man who couldn't do anything to help further societal growth easily because of his loss of a leg, and he felt worthless because of it. After he was triggered, he gained knowledge that allowed him to create [i]The Eye[/i], which lets him go out into the world and wirelessly change things. So his trigger indirectly allows him to change the world.

In any case, the amnesia helps him forget about things that led to his depression, so that's pretty helpful.
