Hazel swore under her breath. In her haste, she had forgotten about him. Stupid! How could she do that? He was the one who knew what was going on. "Hold on!" Hazel bent down and picked him up under her arms like she had before. She got his upper body onto the dresser, then his lower body. She was strong, but not strong enough to lift him totally on her own. "Amos!" She shook him, hoping it would wake him up. "Amos! Come on, I need you to wake up!" Feeling like a monster, she patted his face lightly at first, then harder, and harder still, until she pulled her hand away flicked his broken nose hoping the pain would bring him back to the land of the living. "Amos!"
