Well, just because you are a big technologically advanced empire it doesn't mean you should go around laughing at the less fortunate people. I mean, you pick the Chinese, The Persians and the Romans and they all would laugh at a bunch of hovel-dwelling nobodies from some dirty island, and it would be a good laugh, until said nobodies proceed to parade all over Hong Kong, Sicily, and Southern Iran.
